Chapter 2: You’ve got to be joking

My flight took 14 and half hours, AHHHHHHHH! I can’t believe it took that long to fly from Perth to California at least it gave me long enough to read my 11 page letter and 5 page will from my mother. The letter was extremely eye opening to me and explained so much. I’m not going to repeat the entire letter because it was so long but I will recap and recite important parts. The first page was my mother telling how much she must miss me and telling me that if her thoughts were correct then I probably wasn’t staying with the Hale’s. This was the most confusing part to because she was dead so how could she even suspect that, I mean it was creepy. But luckily the next 5 pages explained everything and I mean EVERYTHING!

‘Elisheva, you may be experiencing certain changes to do with your heritage now that you have turned 16. I wish I could help you but if you are reading this then it means the hunters have gotten to me and I have been killed. The truth is we come from a long line of heritage surrounding heritage. You have hopefully been living with your Aunt Caroline for a while and by now; she should be a werewolf as well as me. I hope you can forgive me for not being able to be there for you but it is important that you talk to one of your cousins from the Hale line. Some of them are werewolves and can easily explain to you about your changes into a werewolf. If time has caught up with the Hales, I suspect that a lot of them are probably dead. I know its strange hearing all this new information from a letter but one cousin in particular should be able to relate to you. Derek. You must promise me that you will stay strong during these hard times and wish that I could be there to help you.’ The rest of those 5 pages explained more about werewolves, what causes the change, hunters, full moons, weaknesses, strengths, packs and Alpha’s. The five pages following explained more of my mother’s theories about what is happening now and how much she and my father are missing her. Blah, Blah, Blah, my mother was rambling even in a letter.

The last page was a list of instructions;: 1. Stay away from hunters, 2. Try and learn from relatives about werewolves, 3. Avoid telling people of what you are at all costs, 4. Learn how to control your inner wolf, 5. Open the satchel when you or if you met one of your werewolf relatives (This does not include your Aunt Caroline), 6. Try to make friends you know for sure you can trust with this secret, 7. Don’t kill anybody, 8. Protect your friends, family and most importantly yourself, 9. Be Careful

The whole letter had me questioning my mother’s sanity when she wrote it and then questioning my own sanity for believing it. I would have to find out for myself when I got to Beacon Hills about this whole truth.
