The rocks were alike any other, wet at the banks front where the Mediterranean rides up into every crack and air-hole.
Dry and rough closer to the wooden overwatch path is where he sat, back to wooden banisters, peering at the moonlit sand 100ft away where the backwash foams.
He felt the warmth of memories in the moment override his general train of thought, leaving him with no other choice but to accept the Goosebumps while peeling open his jacket for cigarettes.

A silver zippo lighter shone in the moonlight, projecting a pattern across the rocks, his eyes followed diligently.
The sound of paper burning, the sight of it curling up and ashing away made him grit his teeth and shut his eyes, toking lightly and blowing smoke in the faint wind.

He let out a light chuckle, resting his elbow on his knee as he opened his eyes, the smirk faded in milliseconds as he felt the strange warmth wash over him again, however at the corner of his eye he saw movement.
The cloud of smoke formed itself next to him, it must be an illusion he thought until he turned and looked directly at it, and it looked directly at him.

The words were like snowball and his mouth became a hill, they fell from his mouth and constructed a jumbled message.
"I Fucking hate how much I love you!"
His jacket flexed to where it was before as he commissioned his body to ignore the sight.
Another toke of his cigarette had the same affect as a youngster pretending the taste of alcohol was bearable... it was the trying that counts. The pretend.

The smoke wafted from his open mouth and formed an arm as it drifted towards the body of his smokey lover.
The hand only reached out towards him, the way he liked it.
The way she used to...
Back when she cared, also when she was alive.
"I used... I still love you" between the sentences his mouth became dry and his tongue did as much as a puddle for a bath.
He turned, attempting to give the sight some attention, but when he did; it loosened its constrains in staying at a human form, drifting up into the moonlight.

The cigarette was still burning and lightly smoking itself in the wind, the lasts of smoke from his mouth was projected as he turned his head to look out onto the water.
A tear formed at his eye corner as he once again gritted his teeth and his eyelids met.
He sucked in through his teeth as he battled his own internal problems in-mind.

A light background rustling from dry leaves broke the deadly silence, a tanned hand rest down upon his shoulder without weight, he; without flinch rested his hand on the same shoulder. The area where her hand was is cold.
"You saw her again didn't you?"
A light sigh plays out and travels with the female voice as it moves to his front, blocking the water view with her head. Consecutively getting crouched and lifting her hands to his face, nails and fingertips kindly cradling his cheeks weightlessly while her fingers tapped playfully.

"When are you gonna put this past you my love?"
Tears streamed down his face and he screamed in her direction, swinging a hand through her body from the right neck jugular to the left waist.

After blinking the figure was gone, his leg burned as the cigarette ashed on his bare skin during the altercation. The burn stuck with him and he smiled, "At least pain never leaves me." He muttered, wincing after taking another toke, he flicked the ash aside and cleared the tear streams.
