Letters To My Loved One (Jerza)

Chapter 1

Erza POV:

I walked into Fairy Tail and immediately I knew something was wrong. The guild wasn't it's loud, fun and energetic self. It was quiet- almost dead silent. Barely anyone was there. There was only a handful of people. I spotted Gray and Natsu sitting by the bar where Mirajane was. They sat in silence, neither talking to each other. That's something you don't see everyday. They were always either fighting or messing up the guild. Something's not right.

"Ohayo Gray, Natsu," I greeted. They looked at me surprised.

"Erza!" they both exclaimed.

"W-What are you doing here?" Natsu asked.

"Why is it such a surprise to see me at the guild this time in the morning?" I asked suspiciously.

"Oh... right," Natsu muttered.

"Are you hiding something?" I asked. I stared at the comedy duo.

"Wh-What? Us? N-No way!" Gray stuttered. Now something is defiantly wrong. Gray is the worst liar in all of Foire.

"Don't lie to me Gray," I threatened.

"Sorry Erza, but Natsu an I are going on a mission! Isn't that right flame boy?" Gray nudged Natsu's side.

"Oh! Ri-Right! See ya later Erza!" Natsu and Gray ran out the guild. What was that about? I went over to the bar where Mirajane was.

"Hey Erza! What can I get cha?" Mirajane asked. At least Mirajane was acting normal.

"Just a slice of strawberry cake please," I said, "Hey Mirajane why is the guild so quiet today?" I asked.

"Well you see," Mirajane laid the plate of cake in front of me, "The guild is planning to-" Before she could finish Elfman and Lisanna came and covered her mouth.

"Mira-nee didn't you say you were going to take Elf-nee and I on a mission?" Lisanna said nervously.

"Ya big sis, let's go on a mission!" Elfman exclaimed. He and Lisanna walked out the guild with Mirajane. That was weird. I finished my strawberry cake and went over to the quest board.

"Guess I'll go on a mission," I said to myself. I found one that involved slaying a monster in a nearby village. The reward was 7,000,000 jewels. It was a decent job. I took the flyer and went off.

>Much much later<

When I got back from my mission it was practically night. Slaying the monster took much longer than I expected, but at least I now have enough jewels to pay my rent. I swung open the large brass doors to the quild. Hopefully everyone has turned back to normal.....

"SURPRISE!!!" The whole guild jumped out and exclaimed.

Colorful confetti rained from the sky. The whole guild was decorated with balloons and red streamers. A large banner that read "Happy Birthday!" hung from the ceiling.

"What is all this?" I smiled.

"You don't remember? It's your birthday Erza!" Lucy shouted. My birthday. I can't believe I forgot my own birthday!

"Happy Birthday Erza!" The guild said once again.

"Everyone..." I was too astonished for words.

"Sorry we had to keep this a secret from you! Now dig in to your cake!" Mirajane giggled. Behind her was a massive, triple layered strawberry cheesecake. Each layer was topped with fresh strawberries and glazed in chocolate syrup. It was heaven's creation. I began drooling as I walked toward the heavenly cake.

"We all pitched in our money to buy you this cake. It's custom made!" Natsu said with pride.

"I can't believe you all did this for me! I'm so happy!" I cried. I started tearing up. I began crying even though I'm not really the emotional type.

"Don't start crying!" Gray exclaimed. We all laughed.

That night the whole guild partied till morning. It was one of the best times of my life. We celebrated and ate the cake (technically I ate the cake). We danced and laughed. Cana got drunk and tried to be a ice-make wizard. The master fell asleep on Mirajane's lap. It was a wonderful time.

>Morning<

I woke up on the table. My neck and head were aching. I looked around me. The whole guild blacked out. Looks like I was the first one up. I got off the table and tried to avoid tripping on the piles of bodies scattered around the room. I maneuvered my way to the bar where I got myself a glass of water to cool my headache.

"Morning Erza," Mirajane yawned. she was the second one up. She went to her usual position as bartender and started cleaning the glasses.

"Morning Mirajane," I greeted my former rival, "Let me help you with that." I helped her clean the plates and glasses.

"That reminds me! Hold on a sec," Mirajane went to the second floor and came down with a large box. The box was decorated with pink strawberry wrapper. a large red bow topped the box. along with the box, Mira held a small envelope.

"This came in the mail yesterday," Mirajane handed me the box and card.

"Thanks," I said, "I'll open this when I get home."

I got back to my apartment at Fairy Hills and removed my armor. I took a shower and decided to relax in my sweat shirt and jeans. I remembered the envelope and present that sat on my desk. I opened the envelope and revealed what was inside. The envelope read "To Erza Scarlet". Inside it was a birthday card. It had no return address. Maybe it was from a friend I helped during one of my quests. I read the letter.

My dear Titania,

Happy Birthday! After all these years, I can't beleive I actually remembered your birthday. I guess some things never change.

How are you doing? I heard Fairy Tail regained it's status as the number one guild in Foire ever since the Grand Magic Games. I watched you fight hard from Ultear's larima vision. Even if it was for a little while, it was nice fighting for Fairy Tail in the Grand Magic Games (even though I was undercover).

It was hard choosing a gift for you. I couldn't get you cake since your probably going to have lots (I also don't want you to get fat). Ultear and Meredy helped me choose a gift for you. I wanted to get you new armor, but they instead chose something more feminine. Anyway, I hope you like it!

Crime Sorciere has been doing well. The three of us have been traveling around Foire. we've been careful not to leave a trail. We don't want the police to catch us! I'm sorry I can't be there on your birthday. I can't reveal our location either. Even so, I hope you have a wonderful birthday!
