Cute

Being a fairly avid manga fan and supporter of cute things, when I discovered the series, Gakuen Babysitters I was immediately enthralled by the adorable cast of preschoolers and their relationships with each other as well as the various adults in the series. I was particularly moved by the strong bond between the male lead, Ryuuichi and his little brother, Kotarou. When the series later came out as an anime, I caught Still watching it in her room.

Me: Oh my god! Are you watching Gakuen Babysitters?

Still: Yup.

Me: Aren't the kids just so darn cute????

Still: They're so round and fluffy looking. Their cheeks look prime for pinching! Especially Kotarou!

Me: Gah! He's the cutest! Him and Ryuuichi are the cutest brothers ever! I wish had a sibling as cute as that.

Still: Yeah. I wish I had an older sibling as sweet and caring as Ryuuichi.

Me: You have me!

Still: ...Yeah, like I said, I wish had an older sibling as sweet and caring as Ryuuichi. Unfortunately, I don't.

Me: See, this is why you're not cute!

Still: It's not that I'm not cute, it's just that you're not good enough of a sibling to realize just how cute I am; therefore, it's you who's bad.

Me: You're the worst. I sincerely wish I was an only child. Me alone would have been enough!

Still: Sucks that you're the only one who thinks that, huh? I mean if mom and dad had thought that they wouldn't have had a second child.

Me: ...

Salon

Stylist [flipping through the salon's collection of hairstyle photos]: What kind of style are you going for, little lady?

Still [points to a picture]: Something like this?

Stylist: Hm, that might be hard to do with the way your hair is now...

Still [points to another photo]: How about this?

Stylist: Hm, your hair's probably too short to do something like that. How about this? [Points to a photo with beautifully blown out hair]

Still: Well, that looks fine but I don't think I'd normally be able to style it like this on my own. I want something that'll look nice without a lot of effort on my part.

Stylist: Don't worry, these curls are easy to do! You just need steady hands and a bit of finesse.

Still: If I had steady hands and finesse do you think I'd be coming to you instead of doing my own hair?

Stylist [looking sheepish]: That's true...

Despite her initial hesitation after some more back and forth, Still decides to go with the stylist's suggestion.

[After the cut and styling]

Stylist: Wow, you look so much better than before!

Still: Thanks. I'd like to hope that I'd end up looking better and not worse since I entrusted my hair to a professional. Otherwise what's the point?

Stylist: Ha ha, what's the point indeed?
