His face wrinkled with sweat and fear
He stands holding the gun
Brave eyes staring back at him, daring him to take a move
He doesn’t know what to do but ever since he’s been a kid he’s been taught
That they’re the enemy and suddenly
His eyes rage with a fire
Directed towards a little kid who has not known how to play with toys as much as he’d known how to stare back with fearless eyes
And the kid’s eyes tear, but he is not melancholic
He is euphoric in fact,
In his mind he is thinking, “I’ll finally meet my brother in heaven,”
The soldier fires a bullet that shoots the kid in the heart
His face suddenly splattered with a red that made his veins light up with cruelty
And as the kid’s last breath escapes as a gasp from his lips
Everyone else all around the world is caring about meaningless little things
And the kid realized, “time had erased humanity.”
