In which feelings are revealed, and a mango is eaten

I looked over at the elegant black shape that was coiled by a pale sandy-colored one. I felt the pang that was always there when I looked at her. Moonwatcher, fellow Nightwing, mind reader, student at Jade Mountain Academy, had stolen my heart. I knew it was just a silly crush. But silly crushes hurt.

I glanced around the noisy Prey Center and hugged the regulation skyfire closer to my chest. Tsunami, the headmistress had made her brother, Turtle, multiply his remaining skyfire to give to the entire school. Moon agreed, and joked that she would finally stop getting headaches. Qibli would then look at her with gentle eyes and wrap a wing over her shoulders.

I secretly resent Qibli, because of the silly crush, which is crazy, because I had absolutely no chance at all with Moon. There were two other dragons who had a crush on her. The ones who didn't hide it at all. Winter, and Qibli. Everyone knew about that, but they thought they were hiding it pretty well. Moon was friends with both of them, which made it awkward for other people in the room.

Of course, when Moon started going out with Qibli, Winter was replaced by a new Icewing, and no one dreaded their group day with Jade winglet anymore. That made me hurt a bit more than watching her slowly fall for Winter and Qibli did, because that meant she is completely off-limits. But I will get a new crush soon enough.

I stood and walked out of the prey center.

Kinkajou

OMGOSH! OMGOSH! I LOVE LOVE LOVE SCHOOL! BUT I LOVE TURTLE EVEN MORE! MORE THAN LIFE ITSELF, MORE THAN-

"I just love mangoes!" I turned bright neon pink and bright neon yellow because I can.

Moon shrieked and covered her eyes because my colours were too bright. "Tone it down, Kinky! If you melt my eyes out, how can I look good for Qibli?"

I grinned and frowned at the same time. "I have no clue!"

Qibli passionately kissed Moon. Because dragons totally do that. "You always look good, Moony Pie!"

I shrieked. MOONBLI IS ALMOST AS CUTE AND HORRIFYINGLY UNSINKABLE AS TURTLEJOU!

Then suddenly a ice-coloured streak that I totally had no clue who it was raced in, flinging himself(because I magically knew his gender) at Moon's feet.

"Please Moonwatcher, girl of my dreams, take me back!" Winter cried, sobbing. "I've been so lonely these long three days without you!"

Random exclamation point.

I started crying, BECAUSE I TOTALLY HAVE A CRUSH ON WINTER THE SPARKLY HANDSOME DRAGON OH MY GUMMY BEARS WHYYYYY?!

"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO MEEEE?" A random IceWing gal named Lynx ran in, and ran out, sobbing.

I forgot about her immediately.

"Hey, dude, that's my girlfriend." Qibli narrowed his eyes at Winter.

"Really?" Winter asked. "Fight me!"

Qibli jumped and clawed Winter to shreds, stabbing him over and over with his poisonous tail barb. I cheered.

"Oh Qibli, you're so strong and handsome!" Moon swooned.

Qibli heroically caught her. I swooned too, but Turtle caught me.

Then suddenly a blonde scavenger with brown eyes ran in! And a whole buncha other ones too, but who cares about them?

Starflight gasped, and went rigid. "Once there was a strange scavenger,

Her name was Sophie Foster,

And she's just arrived in Phyrria,

So all hail Sophie Foster,

And let's worship her like the elves do.

And also a SEER OF MORROWS WILL KILL THE QI OF BLI."

And then Starflight went back to being blind and helpless.

! Everyone gasped. A new prophecy!

The blonde scavenger frowned. "What the heck was that?"
