"Dylan I'm home!" He peeks his head out of the kitchen. "Hey kiddo." I step in and he's cooking breakfast. I steal a piece of bacon hopping on the counter. "Who's shirt is that?" He questions. I smile looking down at it. "Oh this is Jacobs. I had an accident when I was cleaning out the stables and I had to barrow a shirt. No biggie." Thankfully Jacob got my shorts cleaned so I could wear those home but my shirt was ruined so he let me keep his.
Dylan nods. "So you gotta work again today?" I shrug. "Not too sure if we are working but he wants me back over before sunset." He smiles. "Good. I'm glad you are making friends." I smile widely. "Me too. Thanks Dylan." I say hoping off the counter to hug him. He kisses my head. "Just glad to see you happy again kiddo. Now do you want breakfast?" I shake my head. "That's okay I think I'm gonna go unpack some more." He nods watching me disappear up the stairs.

"Serah Jacob is here!" I come down in a T-shirt and some denim shorts. Dylan hugs me. "Be safe Serah." I hum. "I will." I head out the door hoping into Jacobs truck. I sigh. "Hi." He smiles widely. "Hey." I huff. "What are we doing today? More work?" He shakes his head. "Too wet." I nod. "I thought we could go horse riding today." I gasp. "Really?" He nods. "Yes please." He chuckles some. "Okay but I've got to head to town for some groceries first." I swallow. "Okay." He backs out and I just pray that nobody recognizes me.

"Serah..." I sigh. "No I've got it." I say standing on my toes trying to reach the bread on the top shelf. I take a leap but still can't grab it. I feel his hand touch my upper back. "Serah let me." He reaches up grabbing it. I sigh. "I could have had it." He smiles. "I'm sure you could have." He places the bread in the basket. "Excuse me?" We both look in the direction the voice came from. "Yes?" Jacob says softly. "I'm sorry but you just look familiar." I swallow as she points towards me.
"I-I don't think I know you." She places her finger on her chin. "You wouldn't happen to be Serah Bayne?" I shake my head vigorously. Her face hardens. "You are! We don't like your kind around here. Maybe you should just go back where you came from! Go rot in that hole with your parents you murderer!" I shake violently sobbing. "No...I-I....I'm sorry!" I say running through the store out into the parking lot and honestly I don't know how long I've been running.
I run until my knees hit the ground and they bleed from the skid marks. I wipe my eyes sighing. "I'm sorry..." I drag myself to the grass sitting to sob into my hands. I hear a truck and I get up running as fast as I can way from it. "Serah stop!" I shake my head running faster until I hit the ground full force. My heads are not bleeding and the pain from the gravel hitting my already tore up knees makes me sob harder.
I hear his door shut and I back up slowly and he squats next to me grabbing me. I remember the cool water hitting my face from the bottle he had in his hand. "I'm sorry...." He huffs. "Serah you could have died running in this heat like that." I huff. "Why are you helping me?" He sighs. "Because..." And before I could hear his answer I pass out from the heat.

I groan softly before shooting up. "Woah take it easy." I hear Jacob whisper. "Why didn't you take me home?" I see him ring out a towel into a bucket before grabbing one of my legs. "Because if I took you home to Dylan like this what would he say?" I wince softly as he presses the towel to my knee. "Well he'd never let me come back that's for sure but why do you want to be around me?" He smiles. "Because I don't know what happened but I know you're not a murderer Serah." He continues to clean my legs.
"I don't want to talk about it." I whisper softly. He nods grabbing my legs to pull me into his lap. I'm inches from him and he smiles grabbing my hands to clean them. "Was that necessary?" He looks at me and continues to clean and I let him. "Just to let these heal I'm gonna convince Dylan to let you stay the night." I huff. "Why are you doing this?" He looks up at me and doesn't say anything. But when I feel his wet hand touch my face I know I'm in for something worse. He leans in kissing me softly.
When he pulls back I sob and he pulls me into him. "I'm sorry Serah." I shake my head. "No I'm sorry." He pushes me back. "You have nothing to be sorry for. Grab a shower or take a nap if you want. I'm gonna go talk to Dylan." I kiss his cheek softly. "Thank you." He smiles helping me up. I head up the stairs to grab a shower and I forgot clothes once again but when I get out I notice that there was already a flannel and a pair of boxers laid out. I smile softly getting dressed. I find myself climbing into the very soft memory foam mattress that I stumble upon. I melt into it dozing off.

I hear a loud bang and at first I think it's thunder but then I realize it wasn't raining. I realize that's it's night time and I climb out of the bed gently. I hear the loud bang again as I peak my head out into the halfway. "Jacob..." I don't hear a response so I look around the room. There is a gun by his bed but I dig around finding a baseball bat. I drag it behind me heading down the stairs to the living room. I see Jacob sleeping soundly on the couch. I step over to him judging him with the bat.
He wakes up startled until he recognizes me. "Serah what are you doing?" I open my mouth but the loud thud sound comes from the kitchen. He gently grabs the bat from me and I let him. He heads to the kitchen and I follow behind him. He steps around the bar stopping softly and I peek over his shoulder. "It's just a raccoon." I pout. "Aww poor little guy." Jacob chases him out the back door before turning back to me. "Happy now." I nod. "Why were you sleeping downstairs anyways?" He scratches the back of his head.
"Well you were kinda in my bed." I frown. "You could have woke me." He huffs. "I would've but you were dreaming about something." I blush. "My parents." He sighs. "Go get back in bed I have no problem taking the couch." I catch his arm as he steps past me. "I wanna talk..." He swallows nodding softly.
Enjoy!
