"I don't like you. I don't want anything to do with you. I never want to speak to you again. Get out of here and don't come back. Ever."
My last shirt was thrown into my bag. Everything was packed in just a few minutes. Not a single item folded, but my whole life was thrown into a duffel bag and a backpack. Some clothes, a laptop, my phone, chargers, my wallet, and a notebook. That's my identity now. Clothes and a few other things. To think that those few things were in some bags and my room was completely bare other than a bed, a dresser, and a desk, showed exactly who I was. Nothing.
"I swear to you Selene, I want you out of my house right now. GET. OUT."
Her spit was flying around the room. I kept my eyes down and picked up my whole life in the form of these two bags.
"Bye Mom."
I pushed past her, walked towards the front door, and stopped. I held my head as high as I could in that moment, and I walked outside.
I had nowhere to go but I wasn't welcome here.
