I swear that by the time I got home, my eyes were on fire. They burned so much from crying, and the fact that I tried to keep the windows down while I drove to dry the tears, but it didn't work. Elliot and his mother both knew I had been crying when I arrived home.

"Liv? What happened?" Elliot asked, as I sat my car keys in the bowl by the door.

"Nothing, I'm fine. I gotta go and wash my uniform." I spoke, as I walked past my boyfriend and towards the basement stairs.

"Sweetie." Bernie breathed, and I swallowed hard. She said it softly and with so much concern that it made me start to cry. I quickly turned around and hugged Bernie tightly. She rubbed my back gently as I sobbed.

"They are adopting her. They act like she is the best thing to happen to them. Like I'm nothing." I sobbed, as I buried my face into her shoulder. She held me closer and frowned.

"Olivia, forget about them if they make you feel this way. You are so amazing and you don't need them to make you feel good. You are such an amazing woman, and I know that you will be just as amazing with our without them." She breathed, as she stopped rubbing my back and just hugged me tightly.

"I love you, Bernie. Thanks." I whispered, and she nodded.

"I love you too, sweetheart."

I did the load of laundry that my clothes were in before going upstairs with the basket. My boyfriend was in the kitchen going through the newspaper, but as soon as he heard my footsteps on the hardwood floor, he turned to look at me.

"Hey." He spoke, and I sighed as I sat the basket down before walking over to him. I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and placed a soft kiss to his cheek.

"I know you are worried about me, and I'm sorry I didn't turn straight to you, but I needed a mother. I love you so much, and sometimes I just don't want you to have to deal with me." I spoke, and he sighed as he ran his fingers over my hands.

"I'm gonna have to deal with you for the rest of my life. Liv, we need to be able to talk about everything." He spoke, and I nodded as he pulled me around and I sat on his lap.

"I know love. I know. I just feel like we are always focusing on me, and not on other things. How about we go out to dinner tomorrow after I get out of work? My treat. We can just talk and start finding you a job." I smiled, and Elliot grinned.

"Okay. As long as I can get whatever I want!" He exclaimed, and I laughed.

I placed my hands to his cheeks and leaned in and kissed him deeply. He hugged me once our lips parted.

"Olivia, can you help this lady take her groceries out to her car?" My manager, Stacy asked.

"Of course." I smiled. I walked over to the older lady and I picked up the few bags that she had and we walked out together.

She was usually in here once a week and always tried to set me up with her grandson, but then I always had to tell her I'm dating this really cute guy who I think is the one. She laughs a few times and asks the same questions about him. We had gotten to the point where we put a note in her bag for her daughter, telling her that she seemed to be getting worse memory wise.

"Okay, Mrs. Friar. I'll see you next week." I smiled, as I put her in the back of a cab.

"Bye sweetie." She smiled, as she slowly got into her purse for some money, but I shook my head.

"This is my treat." I smiled, and she grinned. I handed the money she always tipped me, which was just enough for her to get home, and I handed it to the usual cab driver that got her.

"Thanks for taking her home. I'll call her daughter when I get inside to tell her to have a look out." I breathed, and he nodded.

"Gotcha."

Once the cab was out of sight, I walked back into the store and went back to stocking. As I was taking the box apart so it would lay flat, someone cleared their throat. I stood slowly and looked at the woman.

"May I help you with something?" I questioned.

"Olivia?" She questioned, and I nodded.

"Yeah, uh, is there something you are looking for?" I questioned, and she swallowed hard.

"My god you have grown up." She breathed, and I shook my head.

"I don't think I know you. If you need help finding something tell me. But please excuse me till then." I spoke, as I walked back over and finished taking the boxes apart.

"Liv, it's been ten years." The woman spoke, and I turned towards her and swallowed hard.

"Serena?" I mused, and she nodded as a smile grew on her lips.

"Hey, sweetie." She spoke, and I quickly grabbed my stuff and walked away from her. She called after me, but I walked right to Stacy as tears welled in my eyes.

"Stacy, can I take my break early?" I asked, and she looked at me and nodded.

"Yeah. Is everything okay?" She questioned, and I pointed at Serena as she walked towards me.

"That's my bio mom. I can't be around her." I whispered, and she nodded as she handed me the keys.

"Go in my office. I'll come get you when she leaves."

[*]

It took about 15 minutes for Serena to leave, but when I walked out to leave for the day, she was standing against the building as I walked to my truck. Elliot was sitting in the driver seat because he had dropped me off and was going to pick me up so we could go on our date.

"Olivia!" She called, and I ignored her and quickly walked towards my car, but she didn't give up. She grabbed my arm and pulled me to a stop. I quickly turned and my arm flew out of her grip and I made contact with her nose.

She held her nose with wide eyes.

"My god!" She yelled, as Elliot got out of the car and ran to me.

"Is everything okay?" Elliot asked, and I turned to look at him.

"Elliot, meet my mother." I cried, before running to the truck.
