Expectations
One of the most dicey things to have is expectations.
This might seem like a depressing thing to say, but don't go about having expectations.
Don't expect every one to act the same way you do cause not everyone was raised like you.
Don't expect everyone to react the same way you do cause not everyone has a heart like you.
I know the Golden rule says, "Do unto others what you'd want to be done unto you".
As wonderful as this rule may seem on the surface, a deeper insight will reveal that it is laden with expectations... It screams expectations!
Recently I stumbled upon another rule... The Platinum rule. The Platinum rule says, "Do unto others as they'd want to be done unto them". The rule satisfies one thing alone; your conscience.
This may seem like a sorry way to live but having experienced heart-wrenching, soul-crushing disappointment first hand... I have decided that I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than grossly disappointed.
