Is he the one?

The Beginning

 

In Art, we had to draw things related to identity, so obviously we had to draw things related to us but still had to show our identity. I wrote in the middle 'who am I?' in fancy writing. As soon as I was just about to write my name, I was interrupted by my friend Madison.

"Hey Bethany, what do you look for in a boy?" said Madison.

Oh Maddi, she's always trying to set me up with someone.

"Um, I don't know. I mean I don't mind what hair colour or eye colour they have, but I do prefer brunettes with brown eyes".

"Anything else"

"Um, they have to be smart, but not to smart, I don't like no-it-alls or cocky boys'

"Anything else"

"They have to be good looking, funny, have good taste, sweet and most importantly make me smile. Why are you doing this?"

"No reason, it's just that there's a guy, Bradden. And I think he would suit you".

"Who? Your cousin Bradden, no thanks. Look, I'm happy with myself. I don't need a boy to make me happy".

After our conversation ended, I continued with my artwork, when the class was interrupted once again. I was going to continue, but apparently we were supposed to pay attention to this.

Mr Watson came in and introduced us to a new person. It was a boy. I bet Madison is going to try to set me up with this guy, since I just rejected her cousin Bradden. I couldn't see who he looked like because it looked like he was behind the door. Mr Watson came in and introduced us to him.

"Everyone, this is Connor Nicolas, he is going to be joining us next week"

Mr Watson left, so that he found himself comfortable with the class.

In our school, we have a tradition of introducing ourselves individually to the person who is new. So when it came to me,to introduce myself and all, I was so nervous, I ended up not saying anything for a minute. I couldn't help it. He was just so perf. He looked at me and started laughing.

"sorry, I find it cute when people do that" said Connor.

I blushed and smiled at him. Connor then smiled back.

"My name is Bethany, and welcome to Hurst Academy" I said with confidence.

Tiffany would have noted in her ego brain of hers that Connor finds it cute when girls are nervous and shy for the first time when talking to people, because that's what Tiffany tried to do. Being shy and nervous.

"Talk about poser" Connor muttered under his breath.

"What did he say?" Tiffany shouted.

"He said, talk about poser" Amber quoted.

"I think I know what he said" Tiffany shouted even louder

"But you said-"

"Zip"

"But-"

"I said zip"

Mr Watson came back in, and told Connor that he would be in my form which is 9BB and then gave him his timetable.

The boys have already taken a liking to him, so they started talking to him. I couldn't help but over hearing their conversation, but I really just wanted to know more about him. I know that snooping and getting involved with people's business is not the best way to find out things about someone, but I just didn't want to embarrass myself infront of him and his 'new best friends'. I heard that he's in all my classes except for P.E and he's in my form. Perfect!

"What are you doing?" whispered Madison

"What? Nothing" I stuttered

"You like him don't you?" Madison said

"I don't know. Maybe?" I replied.

"What happened to, I am happy with myself. I don't need a boy to make me happy" quoted Madison.

"I... I don't know. I mean, he's perf. And when you asked me what I for in a boy, everything I said describes him"

"Do you want me to set you up with him"asked Madison.

"No. And why do you want to? Do you want to get closer to him" shouted Bethany.

"First of all, I'm not that sort of person who takes advantage of people, 2. I am like your Fairy God-Mother, who makes your life simpler for you" said Madison

At the end of the lesson, we made our way back to for for afternoon registration.Connor sat with the boys and sat at the very end on the last seat to the left, and I sat opposite him on the other side of the room. Connor stared at me for about 2 minutes, and then was interrupted by one of his friends Callum.

"Ooo! Connor likes Bethany" shouted Callum

At the end of form, Connor came up to me when I was just about to leave and said"Um, it's Bethany right?"

"Yeah"

"Um, sorry for staring at you like that. I didn't mean to, it's just that you are so beautiful"

"Um. Thanks. Don't worry about the whole staring thing. It's not easy being the new kid"

Connor gave me a friendly smile and then left.

"What was that all about?"asked Audrey

"Nothing. Can't I have a friendly talk with someone?" said Bethany.

"He likes you!"said Madison.

"He's just a person" Bethany replied.
