There's many points with the character topic but for today just this one

When you go to a book and there's more chapters about character description then ACTUAL content and/or that's more interesting and easier to read than Ernst the author actually wrote.

Gosh this is not just annoying but VERY unnecessary

Know why?

No one is going to remember all that she anyway. That's why.

Maybe at the most they'll remember the main two or three characters or the people mentioned most but half the time no one will even remember that.

Some of y'all be like

*inserts picture*
John Guysley age 25 funny, goofy, hilarious, temperamental, with a side of amusing

*inserts picture*
Katy Monroe age 15 blue eyes, brown curly hair, 4'12, has a crush on Johnny, and is single mother

*no picture*
*proceeds to go into full detail about irrelevant shit no one, not even the author will remember*

Like yoooo why???

Don't get me wrong visuals are great but having more pictures than a children's book is just... Childish. Readers like to and will visualize whatever and whomever they want to be whatever character.

My tips on fixing this problem

Just throw in character descriptions during reading but do not over do it because readers can and will eventually get bored of 25 different all out essays about one person

Every now again throw in little reminders of maybe a hair cut, color, eye color, etc but once again don't over do it not be too repetitive about a certain feature nor do this TOO much

Expand your vocabulary. Helps with personality traits, avoiding repetition, just everything. Once again don't overdue it trying to seem like a genius you have to think of the general audience whether it's young adults, teenagers, the elderly, or people in general. Not everyone would know wth idk umm saaayyyyy hermidactilidis(I don't think that's a weird but you get it) means so cool it

Maybe throw in a picture every now and again or when the character is first introduced

Don't force it or be too unrealistic. S'not attractive

Be like

"The blue haired turtle left his thick rimmed glasses on that sludgy table"

Bam not that hard folks

I don't know what made me write this at 1 in the morning but I did so
