Flashing lights of TV static filled a house. Rain pouring down on the metal roof and dripping through the small holes scattered all around. Moonlight illuminating the abandoned house. Soft sounds of a dog paws tapping against the wet tiles on the floor while the loudness of howling outside. The smell of dried blood filled the house. All emanating from a red stained wall in the dining room. The police dog sniffed around the house and the ground, surveying every inch, but no results. A victim was hidden and the culprit was long gone from this house.
The man that accompanied this dog was a human named Lucas. His messy brownish hair sometimes covered his eyes if he didn't have it swept up. But the rain that he got caught in meant he would have to deal with hair in his face. He was the only one assigned to this case. He knew that there was no point in trying to solve it. The culprit would be in another country, have a new identity, and have an entire new face, by the time he would even get a clue. Crime has been on the loose and crazy in numbers. After the outbreak of hybrids most police forces have given up and left the work to the good people that have taken justice into they're own hands. Lucas stared at the dog while he stared back and tilted his head. He bent down while he began to talk in a child like voice.
"Why do people like me have to deal with this. Huh puppy?" He pet in between the dog's ears.
He got back up and turned around to look at the stained wall.
"This place is a dump. No wonder why the culprit wanted to leave huh." He glanced at the dog so he wouldn't be talking to himself. The dog ignored and continued to sit believing that nothing could be done as well.
"Why don't we just go?" He started to walk out the door as the dog followed. He went outside into the pouring rain and ran to the police car and first opened the back seat for the dog to jump into. The back seats had a towel laid on it so he wouldn't get in trouble for having the seats wet. Lucas put it there beforehand knowing the consequences. He closed the back doors and ran around to the driver seat, which also had a towel on it.
"So where to? The police station again?" Lucas talks to the dog. "How about just home. I need some sleep." After saying this he begun on his way home. The dog curled up on the back seat. Lucas made sure to drive a little slower so the dog would have a peaceful rest.
