thick droplets of rain fell from the muddy skies onto hana's pale face. her boots were covered in dirt from walking around in the puddles forming on the ground. nothing dangerous alerted her attention, so she thought it was a good idea to walk around and explore the landscape some more; but the weather wasn't quite cooperating with her.

"darn! i can't see anything..." hana squints, trying to find at least spot of clear vision. her hair was getting soaked as well as her wardrobe, making the thin woman shiver from the cold. and to add on to the shitty atmosphere, it absolutely reeked of carcass and flesh.

giving up, hana sighed and headed back to where she left her mech to soak in the rain. she felt bad that she even had the nerve to leave her precious robot to sit in misery. she picked up the pace, cringing at the noise her boots made when they made contact with the mud beneath her feet.

once she made it, she stopped running to catch a quick breather. she walked around the large machinery to the back where a latch was. hana reached to pull the latch open, sliding the door upwards just enough so her slim body could fit through. inside the mech was padding for extra support, and of course– the pleasant smell of cherry that managed to whiff out the outside's smell.

hana sighed again, but in an optimistic tone. she laid inside, shutting the opening behind her with her dirtied shoes. the warm feeling of her mech which she named "meka" felt good. it was her only shelter during the time of despair, and her only safe haven where she stashed all of the knicks and knacks she found.

sentimental value was a huge part of what hana usually stored in her big, pink robot. it was kind of unhealthy, but she dismissed it because meka wouldn't have been still in working order if it weren't for her pure heart.

the wide, turquoise glass screen protected the front of the mech but still gave a clear sight what was ahead. hana's arms were still exposed outside, but she didn't really mind since she got to control two joysticks operating the two large machine guns parallel to her torso. an additional two cup holders were near her shoulders, but she hadn't used them in a while; ever since the leakage of the strange chemical that started the invasion of even stranger humans. she just didn't have much food or drinks left to put in them. she was running low, and living in an environmental crisis didn't help either.

hana began to continue her exploration of the deserted landscape, in hopes to find something that could provide food, shelter, and possibly another human– that wasn't infected, of course. meka was a big help in getting through the rough terrain, it's strong components rummaging through debris easily. it was still very hard in telling where hana and meka were, since the skies were still dark and foggy due to the leak of chemicals into the air.

despite the hard conditions, they kept moving, using survival as their motivator...but the pouring rain decided to worsen out of the blue. the water blurred meka's glass view and made it hard for hana to see.

this caused her to grow frustrated. she yelled to herself, almost glad nobody was there to hear her panic so loudly. who knew living like this was so hard? who knew nature could be so against someone who just wanted to live past this mess? she thought to herself, coming to a conclusion that it wasn't even anything to get mad about. it was just some stupid rain. it was only the start of her new, miserable life.

marching forward, hana spotted something in the distance. her eyes widened and a spark of hope ignited her flame, causing her to jolt her joysticks upward so that meka could move faster. "finally!" she excitingly whispered to herself.

as she got closer, her grin turned almost completely upside down, and the disturbing sight of a distorted-faced zombie sluggishly walked in her direction.
