The Shadow of Love

New School

  "Lily time to wake up." I groaned in annoyance, wishing to go back to sleep, then rolled out of bed. I walked into my closet, looking for something to wear and found a pink crop top with some black shorts. 

I went downstairs cause I was so hungry then I went into the pantry hoping to find something good to eat. Then I got interrupted by my mom. She always worries about me, which I hate. She gave me a fifteen minute talk, because that is what she always does when something new happens to me. When she got done, I had no time to eat, because I was already late. 

At School

When I got to school, everyone turned their heads towards me and stared at me as I walked through the doors and into the hall. I was new, so it was pretty understandable, but some girls were looking at me in disgust, I didn't know the reason though. Then two girls came up to me and pushed me into the lockers.

"Olivia look we have another one of those ugly kids." Madison said.

"No one is going to like her. She's too ugly." Olivia muttered loudly.

"Hey, Madison!" A boy that was sitting on the floor at the other side of the hallway called out. He was wearing black jeans and a loose white shirt. His glasses rested atop his head, because he repositioned them there after calling out to the girls. "Why don't you leave her alone, and go find something else to do?"

Madison walked away after rolling her eyes, with Olivia following closely behind. Once the girls got out of sight, the boy stood up and walked towards me. 

"Hey." He smiled. 

I looked up at him and smiled because he was tall.

"What's your name?" He smiled again.

"It's Lily." I muttered.

"Cute. I'm Derrick. Nice to meet you." He moved his glasses back to his face and stuffed his hands in his jean pockets. "Well, I'll see you around, Lily."

As he walked away, my face turned red. I turned around and leaned on the lockers.

"Oh my god." I silently whispered to myself.
