chapter twelve

Maddie
Walking into the Great Hall, I sat down next to Pansy.
I silently watched the sorting, only half paying attention.
I noticed that Draco kept looking at me from across the table, but I acted like I didn't.
When Draco looked away, Pansy nudged me, nodding towards him.
"I know." I whispered back to her, nodding.
I returned my focus to the sorting ceremony, to notice there was a boy my age being sorted.
Looking closer, I realized it was my neighbour, Brendan.
Widening my eyes, I turned to Pansy.
"Oh my god." I started. "That's my neighbour from when I lived with my parents!" I whispered.
"Lucky you." She winked, staring Brendan up and down.
I looked up to see him coming my way smiling, the Slytherin table clapping.
I beamed at him, and he took the spot next to me.
Hugging me, he looked me up and down.
"Damn." He said. "I missed you."
"I missed you too." I blushed.
Brendan and I dated for 6 months before he moved away.
I looked at Draco to see him glaring at Brendan. When his eyes met mine, I glared, and he looked away quickly.
Draco
As the new Slytherin boy walked up to the table, I noticed he was staring at Maddie.
He came up and hugged her, making me scowl.
"I missed you." He smirked, looking her up and down.
She blushed slightly, "I missed you too." She replied.
I glared at the guy. Turning to Maddie, I noticed she was looking at me. I was about to smile, but she glared at me. I quickly focused my gaze onto Blaise, who was currently snogging Pansy.
I made a disgusted face, looking around the Great Hall.
I noticed Potter and Weaslette snuggled up with one another. Weasel and Granger were holding hands secretly under the table.
I returned my gaze to Maddie and the new guy. They were smiling and laughing at each other.
What the hell? Why was everyone suddenly so..... Together?
I shook my head, standing up and leaving the Great Hall.
I turned around the corner, and ran straight into Millicent Bullstrode.
"Chocolate?" She offered, pushing the small box into my face.
I furrowed my brows, slowly reaching for one.
Popping it into my mouth, I slowly chewed. Realizing it was intoxicated with love potion, I was about to spit it out when a pair of lips crashed into mine.
Pulling away, I looked into Millicent's eyes, before realizing my mistake.
Fuck.
That was my last thought before I planted my lips back onto Millicent's.
Maddie
I watched Draco get up and leave the Great Hall. I was about to get up, but looked back at Brendan.
"Something wrong?" He asked slowly, voice filled with concern.
I shook my head, smiling at him. But I couldn't help but glance back at the door.
Brendan grabbed my hand, making me return my focus to him.
"Can you show me the common room?" He asked.
"Of course!" I said, getting up, hand still intwined in his. I turned to say goodbye to Pansy and Blaise, only to see that their faces were literally merged together.
Rolling my eyes, I made my way out of the Great Hall.
"Where is it?" Brendan questioned.
"In the du-" I looked up to see Draco and Millicent snogging against the wall.
I stared open mouthed, feeling my throat tighten and eyes water.
Swallowing back the tears, I walked around them.
"Maddie! Wait!" I heard Draco yell out, before I turned the next corner.
We walked the halls in silence. Until we reached the staircase and Brendan grabbed my shoulders, whipping me around to face him.
"Are you ok?" He asked slowly, eyes searching my face.
I only nodded, afraid that if I spoke my voice would crack.
He raised his eyebrows.
I took a deep breath, and quickly attached my lips to his.
He opened his mouth slightly in shock, before kissing back, harder than I had been.
He pushed me against the wall, putting his hands in my hair, while mine stayed on his chest.
We pulled away after a couple of minutes, catching our breath.
"Wow." He breathed, running a hand through his dark hair.
He stared deeply into my eyes with his emerald ones, and smiled.
I turned to continue to the Slytherin common room, to see Draco standing on the staircase below us, mouth ajar.
He grit his teeth and balled his fists, and as he turned away to descend the stairs, I saw a tear roll down his cheek.
I let out a deep growl. He broke up with me, and I just saw him kissing Bullstrode. He had no right to be upset.
Bastard.
"So, what does this make us?" Brendan asked, leaned against the wall lightly, eyebrows raised.
I shrugged. "I dunno, whatever you want this to make us."
He smirked. "I think you know what I want this to make us." He replied, moving closer to me.
"Ahem." Said a voice from beside us.
I jumped away from Brendan, blush creeping up to my cheeks.
I smiled sheepishly at Pansy, who had her eyebrows raised, and hand in Blaise's.
She rolled her eyes.
"Let's go to the common room." She stated, pulling Blaise down the stairs.
Brendan sighed, "It was good while it lasted." He said dramatically, before following the pair down the stairs.
I smiled after my boyfriend, before shaking my head and walking down the stairs after them.
Draco
I hadn't swallowed the chocolate, so the potion only lasted a few minutes.
I pulled away from Millicent in disgust, to see Maddie and Brendan walking down the hall away from us, hand in hand.
"Maddie! Wait!" I called out in a panic, before turning back to Millicent.
"If you ever try to give me a love potion again you'll regret it." I snarled, pushing her harshly into the wall.
Face going pale, she nodded before scurrying back into the Great Hall.
I quickly headed to the common room, where I can only imagine they would be going.
I started walking up the staircase only to see Maddie and Brendan kissing.
They pulled away and my face got hot. Balling my hands into fists and gritting my teeth, I swallowed back tears, but when Maddie looked at me, they started flowing. I quickly turned away, walking down the stairs and into the common room.
Entering my dorm, I flopped onto my bed, and cried.

Alright so I literally had no plan of adding Brendan or any new character whatsoever, but as I was writing this chapter I just kinda did it and I was like oh ok. I hope it was a good decision 😂
