Juliana wiped the sweat and grime off her forehead as she set down her wrench. She had been working for 17 consecutive hours, with 5 minute breaks to eat, in order to complete this project. Being a female engineer/entrepreneur was hard, especially since she was taking large financial risks. But she loved the job, and enjoyed controlling her own work, if only because she could always get the parts she needed. In order to finish, she simply needed to upload the programming to the machine, after she edited it that is.

She sighed as she sat in her rolling chair, and impatiently waited for the program to load, pushing a stray strand of her chestnut brown hair out of her face. Her programs finally opened, and she quickly noticed some mistakes a few of the programmers had made. She specialized in computer hardware engineering, as well as augmented reality programming. Yes, it was an odd combination, but she loved them doing both. The machine she was designing was meant to be able to create an interactive suit that would enable the user to touch or move objects in an augmented reality landscape. It was originally meant to help someone feel as though they had traveled and taken a vacation, without the stress of airports or car rides, but now, could be an incredible breakthrough in technology. The prototype was due tomorrow, but she knew it was best she finished it now, and edited later. She finished correcting the program, then uploaded it to her flash drive. She yanked it out of the computer, and turned to insert it into the machine lying on her desk. If this worked, she would make millions, and have hopefully created a device that would change the world for the better.

The flash drive was accepted quickly. She grinned, and pushed a button that would activate the machine. She waited for it to warm up, then placed the headset over her head. It lit up, and the scene that had been programmed lit up the screen. In awe of the work, she reached out a hand to touch a tree, rustling the leaves.

"Julianna!"

Huh? She pulled off her headset, and was met with the sight of her advisor, and fellow mechanic engineer. He looked impatient, and annoyed. Today mustn't have been a good day. She gulped, and removed the gloves.

"Yes?"

"Is it done yet?" He asked. She had found a few more bugs in the programming, but, for the life of her, had no clue how to fix them. She voiced her thoughts.

"I thought something along those lines. Here. This is a developmental AI that supposedly can do anything, anywhere, anytime. Ask it to help you." He handed her a large box, one that was so large that it was too the point of being hard for her to grab. She thanked him, and her advisor left. She carefully set down the box, hands shaking in anticipation, and reached for the box. She ripped it open, and tore through the ginormous box. "Huh?" She voiced her thoughts aloud. Inside of the ginormous box, sat a tiny mechanical lizard the size of her pinkie. What a waste of packaging. She carefully lifted the little machine out of the box. She set it down on her desk, unsure of what to do. "Hello?" She asked cautiously. Then she noticed a little power switch on its side. She flicked it on. An astonishing number of leds lit up, in the pattern of red, blue, blue, green. "Hello. My name is Glinda. I am your new personal AI. I can do anything, anywhere, anytime." A female robotic voice spoke. Julianna jumped out of her chair with shock. "Hello." She said, cautiously to it. "Hello." The AI replied. Julianna's brows furrowed with confusion. "Well, I'm having trouble with a few programming glitches. This part of code is supposed to make the object light up when touched, but is not working. Do you have any ideas?" She asked, feeling a bit foolish talking to the lizard.

"Of course. And don't feel foolish, for I contain more than I look like I do."

"Did you just read my mind?"

"Not quite, there are several programs in place so I am able to do something akin to mind reading." The AI responded.

"Huh." Now slightly apprehensive, Julianna pushed her fears aside. For the rest of the night, Julianna worked with the AI to complete and improve the project. She asked it a few more questions, and at the end of it, she thanked the AI and reached out her hand to power it down. "Wait! Don't power me down yet! Use me more! I know everything!" The AI exclaimed. "You want to know who will win the next dodgers game, I can tell you! If there really is a God? I can tell you! I know everything! Your name is Julianna Redkins Lilli, you are fourty five years old, have two kids named John and Martin, who are twins born on December 22, 2017, and are 7. Their favorite hobbies are playing soccer and reading." Julianna watched, horror creeping up on her at how much this AI knew. She had never really feared AI's taking over the world like others, but now that was starting to change.

"Your sons are currently sleeping at 1800 Pirot Drive, they went to bed 5.5 minutes ago, and fell asleep approximately 3.4 and 2.5 minutes ago. They-" Julianna lunged for the off switch and switched it off quickly, cutting off the machine. She breathed a sigh of relief as the AI stopped talking. She placed it in the mountains of packaging, and heavily taped up the box. She let out another sigh of relief, then picked up her project to bring it to her advisor. She swept out of the room, failing to notice leds lighting up the inside of the big box, in a pattern of red, blue, blue, green.
