The Beginning of The End

Today, the sun was warm, but the air was cool, and the sun was occasionally blurred over by some thin clouds with the ambition of a light storm. I flicked my hazel eyes about the pretty scenery, and heard the breeze whisper through the trees and felt it dance through my hair and flutter about my fingers. It was the perfect day. Was. I lived in the middle of nowhere. Well, not exactly. I lived in a small town called

Auburn, with glittering lanterns that dimmed in the night so you could see the shining stars. Everybody knew everybody and nothing would surprise me here. Until now. It all started this morning when I was daydreaming about flying or magic or something.

A loud thwap on my desk table shook me from my daydream and I almost fell out if my chair. My older brother smirked down at me.

"What the hell?" I exclaimed. "Why'd you do that?"

"Mom wants you." He said simply and sauntered out if my room. I rolled my eyes at him and straightened myself. I sighed at my too-long eyelashes, my too-skinny frame, and my too-bright eyes that never matched with anything. I shrugged and trotted down the stairs.

"Mom?" I asked, my voice echoing through the house. "Brother said you wanted me so I-" I gasped at the scene before me. And then I screamed.
