Chapter One:

Bluebelle

"Blue, honey, can you come in here for a moment?" Bluebelle Oakley's mother said quietly from her behind the door of her bedroom.

"Sure mom, just a sec, I just gotta put some sockies on!" She yelled from her own bedroom, quietly getting ready to go camping with some friends.

Bluebelle slowly opened her mother's creaky door, and stepped in awkwardly. She hated going in that room after her father died, It used to be so... his. But now her mother dominated the whole room, and her father was practically forgotten.

"Sit down Bluebelle." Bluebelle's mother whispered from the bed. Bluebelle hesitated, and then carefully walked towards the large four poster bed that took over the tiny room.

"Bluebelle..." Her mother started.

"Mom, what do you need, I'm kind of in a hurry to get packed..."

"Bluebelle, there is something very important you need to know about now.' She said calmly.

Bluebelle was confused, and many things were running through her mind. She was busy enough as it is; what's so important that she needs to know... now?

"Bluebelle, listen to me, this... is... important... You need to let me explain." She said impatiently. Bluebelle raised her eyebrows, signalling her mother to explain. Her mother started talking again.

"Alright, let's see... I guess I should start from the beginning."

Bluebelle couldn't think of anything to say. She nodded.

"A long, long time ago, a child was born, and her name was Ember. Her parents knew she was different from the very beginning. Their baby started blacking out all the time and it got worse as she got older. One day, she started talking. She was 3 months old, Bluebelle. Only three months. Could you imagine? A three month old baby... was talking?! Her parents didn't know where she'd even heard the words before, let alone hearing them enough to learn them. It just didn't make sense."

"Okay, so there was a freakishly smart baby who blacks out..? That's kind of weird. What's so important about that that I needed to know now?" Bluebelle asked. Her mother sighed.

"Blue, this baby was special. She had a gift. When she blacked out, she saw dreams, people's dreams. They didn't realize until Ember was older, but she was the first dream runner." Bluebelle's mother looked at her seriously. Bluebelle stared back, bewildered.

"So what you're saying is, there was a little baby who could see dreams? Is that like some kind of fairytale? I still don't see the importance of this!" Bluebelle said, exasperated.

"Bluebelle- This is no fairytale! Listen while I tell you the rest please!" Blue nodded, and sank into the bed.

"Ember eventually grew up, she still had the gift. Her parents were still looking for answers, clues, anything to help them. But she was the first dream runner ever. There were no answers. As Ember grew older, she started blacking out more and more, and every time she got back, she would be happy, high almost. No one understood any of it, as you don't now. They knew nothing at all. Ember's life was getting worse. Almost all of her time was spent in the world of dreams. Ember often talked about nightmares, and evil things, demons and such, and now we know that she chose the path of evil as a dream runner."

Bluebelle cut in: "We? Who the heck is we?"

Her mother looked away, then straight into Bluebelle's eyes.

"Honey, you are a dream runner."

Chapter Two: Answers

"No I'm not! I don't see dreams! I never have! What are you talking about?!" Bluebelle screamed at her mother. Her mother sat there patiently, waiting for her to get it all out.
