Jack Frost's POV:

In the blink of an eye the pair disappeared into the night.

Jack Frost: "AMORETTE!!!"

I screamed after her to no avail. No no no how could things become so bad so fast?

Jack Frost: "We have to go after them, we have to save her!"

Bunnymund: "Save her from what mate? Herself? Besides we don't know where they went or how to free her of the darkness."

North: "Bunnymund is right Jack, we must think this through. Acting now could only hurt our chances."

I wracked my brain desperately trying to think of a way to save her and the world but I could think of nothing. I felt the ground around me freeze from my intense emotions but I didn't care. I could hear the other guardians calling out to me but their voices seemed distant. Nothing mattered except saving her and the world. Without compassion and kindness the human world would be plunged into fear, hatred, and war. The world needed her.... and I failed to protect her.

Soon all I could hear was the pounding of my own heart. I doubled over gripping my chest but even the pain I felt was dull in comparison to the pain I felt watching her leave. I didn't realize I was hyperventilating until the world around me fell out of focus and dark splotches swam in my view. The last thing I remember was hearing the guardians screaming my name before I collapsed to the frozen ground bathed in moonlight.

When I opened my eyes, I was laying down among rosy clouds in the sky. Then I heard a soft giggle and a gentle voice.

"Good morning sleepyhead."

I looked towards the voice, it was Amorette! She was okay! She was laying beside me looking up at the clouds above us and the doves playing in them. I immediately sat up and pulled her into a tight embrace, burying my face into her hair.

Jack Frost: "Amorette! Your'e okay! I was so afraid that I, I mean that the world had lost you."

Then I realized how cold she felt in my arms, slowly I pulled away from her and looked at her. The sky grew dark and cold. Her skin was a deathly pale with faint blue veins showing under the skin. Her eyes were glassy and pale, not the blue I had known. From her lips spilled crimson blood and the black arrow protruded from her chest. She looked at me with tear filled eyes and spoke through gurgling blood as she reached out her hands to me.

Amorette:" Jack, I don't want to die or lose myself."

She began pitifully crying and begged me to help her, but I was paralyzed with fear.

Amorette:"Jack i'm scared."

The familiar words snapped me out of my fear and I reached out to caress her cheek and tried to comfort her, but her skin crumbled away into nightmare dust that scattered to the wind. Slowly all of her dissipated into nothingness among the sounds of her sobbing and screaming my name.

Jack Frost: "AMORETTE!"

I woke up screaming her name, acutely aware of the frozen tears on my cheeks. Immediately I was surrounded by the other guardians who tried calming me down. I was in a bed at the North Pole, safe and unharmed.

Jack: "Where is she, where is Amorette? Why am I in this bed?"

I tried getting up but I was too weak and North gently lay me back down.

North: "Jack unfortunately Amorette is gone, remember.... she left with Pitch."

Bunnymund:"You had a panic attack mate, had to carry you back here. Try not to push yourself, not that it matters to me..."

Toothiana: "You must have had a nightmare. Pitch probably planted that dark seed while you fought."

I ignored the rest of what they said and closed my eyes. I failed. I wanted to be strong for her, to protect her from the pain of this world but I failed her. I felt the icy tears spill down my cheeks but I didn't care if the other guardians thought me weak because I was weak. I couldn't save the world's source of love and compassion. I couldn't save the girl who made my cold heart feel warmth.
