"That was my mouse!" Lake complained. He looked at his sister.

"Well, you should of been faster instead of waiting!" Shadow chuckled. Blackfrost had been teaching them to hunt and fight. He learned that Shadow was fast and swift but Lake was strong and had huge paws.

They were both as old as apprentices. Lake leaped at Shadow playfully. Shadow meowed in suprise. Shadow and Lake began rolling down a small hill. They laughed and batted at each other. They were at the end of the hill and stopped rolling.

Lake stared at what was in front of them. It was the lake. Shadow quickly got to her paws. They both sat by the lake. Shadow felt the cold breeze.

"I wish we got to know him better.." Lake meowed sadly staring at the greenish water.

"Me too but I know he would of been a great brother. He deserved to live." Shadow said, staring at the water.

They were silent for many moments then Shadow spoke. "The night that Robin died. Mama cursed StarClan. Do you really think that we were being punished?"

"I dont know.. You and me dont get to have a connection with StarClan since we are not clan cats." Lake said. He looked at his sister knowing she would have a response.

"I dont want a connection with StarClan. They took Robin! They took our brother from us!" Shadow snapped angrily.

Lake stayed quiet to let her calm down. Lake learned that its best to let her calm down when she is angry because she gets very angry at times.

Lake rose to his paws. "Come on, lets go home." He said and Shadow stood up and noddod. She glanced back at the lake before following her brother back home.

Shadow and Lake padded into the abandoned twolegnest where Lightsky was sitting. She was sorting herbs and whispering to herself.

Shadow realized she was naming each herbs and saying what to use them for. Lake and Shadow padded next to her and sat down.

Lightsky pointed her paw towards a piece of bark. It was dark and smooth with light colored horizontal markings. "Thats Alder bark. It grows in watery places. Chewing on the bark can help toothache." She told them.

She continued to tell them all about a bunch of different herbs. She told them their uses, where to find them and what season they grow in. Shadow and Lake listened carefully trying to remember everything their mother told them.
