"Hey, Mom."

Your mother does not look up from her paperwork but replies with a, "Yeah, sup?"

You pout at her but ask anyway. "Have you ever met any of our neighbors?"

"Yeah." she flatly says.

Your eyebrows jump in surprise. "Really? When?"

"Before we even moved in," her eyes were fixed on her work at hand and signs papers swiftly one after another "and also when you took that long nap the other day."

"When you were sleeping, some of the neighbors visited and brought me some food..." when you pry open your mouth she raises a finger "to which I devoured right after they left and didn't leave you any of the food they gave."

You frown at her but nod in understanding, shoving a spoon of cereal in your mouth. Traitor, you diss her in your head.

After you swallow, you ask her again. "Then do you know a Lalisa in the neighborhood?"

Right after the name pops out of your mouth, she looks up at you. "Lalisa? Pretty name."

"Mom." you groan.

"Yeah yeah, I know." she shrugs. "She's the only child of that foreigner couple in the house across ours."

At the mention of the location, your eyes shift to the glass window behind your mother. Sure enough, there was a beautiful house at the other side of the street. But it looked more modern and sophisticated compared to the vintage style your new home had.

"Why do you ask though?" your mother's curious tone snatches you back into reality.

You almost jump back when you meet her eyes staring right at you through her reading glasses.

After a few seconds of recovering, you shake your head. "It's nothing."

"Liar." she blurted out just as you finish your sentence. You give her a blank stare.

"Why are you asking about Lalisa?" she inches her chair forward to the bar. "And how do you know her?"

Once your mother bombarded you with the questions, you could only sigh in defeat. When she was the one interrogating, especially with her reading glasses that made her look 10x more intimidating, there was no way you could escape.

You had to answer the questions.

"I'm just curious about her,"

-jealous of her~ your inner voice speaks out.

You shrugged but your mother's eyes squinted more as if she was looking straight at the sun. "And I learned about her through Jungkook." a sigh escapes from you.

She finally eases the muscles on her face and she smiles at you.

"If you want to know her, you could just ask her." she then directs her gaze on her paper again.

You nod your head, shoving another spoon of cereal in your mouth.

And eventually said cereal came flying out of your mouth once you processed everything in your had.

"W-Whaaa?" you asked your mother as milk spilled from the sides of your mouth. You quickly wiped it away with a towel.

Without looking at you, your mother chimed, "Wash up and dress nice -"

You stared at her in horror as she said her next sentence.

"Lalisa's coming over."
