7. Sailor Moon - Letting Go

After getting both Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon with Luna and Artemis to stop blushing, the guardians followed King Endymion and Chibiusa once more.

“You still haven’t answered our question, King Endymion.” Luna hissed as she jumped on Sailor Moon’s shoulders. “What about Sailor S? What happened to her? And what happened to Neo – Queen Serenity?” She asked.

The pair stopped infront of a larger tomb made completely of crystals and covered by a curtain. Chibiusa teared up and ran up to the tomb, kneeling down and crying. Sailor S felt her heart break and walked up to the small child, kneeling next to her and rubbed her back.

“You basically asked the same question twice.” King Endymion said, causing the black cat along with everyone else.

“No I didn’t.” Luna protested. “I asked what happened to Sailor S and what happened to Neo – Queen Serenity.” She stated.

Sailor Mercury’s eyes widened at a realization as she looked between Sailor S and Chibiusa. “Oh no.” She whispered to herself, or so she thought until King Endymion looked at her.

“You were always the smart one along with Sailor S, Sailor Mercury.” King Endymion praised, causing the others, minus Chibiusa and Sailor S, to look at her.

“What does he mean, Sailor Mercury?” Luna asked.

Sailor Mercury gulped and felt herself start to sweat with her heart pounding rapidly. She looked at Sailor Moon sadly. “I’m sorry, Sailor Moon.” She apologized. “King Endymion means that…Sailor S is Neo – Queen Serenity.” Everyone looked at Sailor Mercury in shock.

“Then that would mean…” Sailor Venus trailed off, looking at the pink haired duo. “…in our time, Sailor S is Princess Serenity. In this time, she’s Neo – Queen Serenity. Queen of Neo – Tokyo, wife of King Endymion, and mother of Chibiusa.”

Those words hit Sailor Moon hard. She left everything crumbling before her. She wasn’t the true Princess Serenity. She wasn’t the future Neo – Queen Serenity. She wasn’t Mamoru’s wife. She wasn’t Chibiusa’s mother. She was just Sailor Moon. She was just Mamoru’s sister in law. She was just Chibiusa’s aunt.

Sailor Mercury gently rubbed Sailor Moon’s back as she was left in a state of shock. King Endymion looked at Sailor Moon sadly, remembering how much it pained to see her cry and be upset over him when he realized he had the feelings for the twins switched around with his actual love being for Sakura and his friendship being for Usagi.

“Sailor Moon is no longer.” King Endymion said, causing everyone to look at him in horror. “I don’t mean that she’s dead. I mean that she isn’t Sailor Moon anything but something greater that I’m not allowed to say. With that being said, she’s helping from above.”

“Should we tell them?” Sailor Jupiter asked.

Sailor Moon got up with a smile and shook her head. “No. Let them figure it out. At least, let Sailor S. She deserves to figure out that she’s finally going to have a happy future.” The others looked at her in shock and smiled happily at the mature decision that really comes from Sailor Moon.

Sailor Moon then looked at Tuxedo Mask and smiled as she moved her lips without speaking. Tuxedo Mask read her lips and smiled genuinely.

“We are over, Mamoru. Go be with the girl you truly love and have the happy future you can both share that I could never give you.”
