Steal

chapter 7

I was laying in bed next to karma. "Hey" he said then coughed up some blood. I just looked over at him with a blank expression. Me and him have been coughing and puking up blood for the pass few days. "I've always wondered. Why your name is steal." He said his voice sounded dead. " when they first brought me here" I said I stopped to cough. "No one could make me scream or cry no matter what pain they just couldn't get a reaction from me. I believe there exact words were 'he's hard as steal'!" I chuckled.
" so what's your real name? " Karma asked. I moved my pointer finger to my lips.
"Its a secret" I say.
" you know that would be funny if you didn't look half dead" karma said.
"Me? Look at you!" I say mimicking his voice from a few days ago.
"Har har" he says.
"I want to die" karma whispered suddenly serious.
"Me too but that would be hard considering we can't really die anymore" I say.
"Not true we still have some ways to die"karma argued.
" I've got a question. " I say.
"Ok? Ask away" he says back.
"When we get out of here, what happens what will we do. We could never really fit in you know." I say.
Karma shrugged "I don't know. Get a stay at home job. Eat normal.food. Find a lover...."
" Lover? " I say.
"Ya you know like someone who loves you and you love them all that gushy stuff" karma says.
"Love" I mumble. I've never cared about anyone before. Well maybe one person.
"I love you karma" I say causally.
"Haha guess I love you to. But I mean I want to find a real lover like you know someone who means more than a friend to me" he says just as causally. I felt my face turn red.
"Maybe I meant....." At that moment a doctor burst into the room.
"We've been waiting for over an hour! I expected this from karma but not steal!"
" give us a break" karma coughed "we can barely stand up these bodies are heavy!" Karma continued. I nodded in agreement.
"Fine we shall wheel you both in there." The doctor snapped.
He moved our new bodies into two wheel chairs and called another doctor in. They both wheeled us to the testing room.
"Today we will be doing something a little differently." The doctor said. At this point me and karma didn't have it in us to be surprised about anything anymore. The doctors looked a bit concerned.
"Well spit it out" karma said.
"Well it's kinda hard to explain... I'll try to say it so you understand. You see that door." The doctor said pointing to the door behind him. Me and karma nodded.
"Well behind that door is a room with three walls and the door in and out. On two of the walls there will be a door there is one for each wall. You two will pick a separate room and find your way through the door maze. Who ever makes it out first will be the winner of something important." He said. I looked at karma who seemed confused.
" so it's a big maze? " he asked.
"Yes and don t worry when you enter this room and chose one of the doors both of them are facing the exit at that point so don't be scared to choose which door you will go in" the doctor said.
"Ok but there has to be a catch. There's no way these are just doors there has to be something else" karma said suspiciously.
"Yes there will be ...... Some obstacles but you two will live. Remember that we do still need both of you...... For now." The doctor said. Karma looked confused. I can't help but wonder what they meant by for now.
" ok last question" karma said. The doctors nodded at him to go on.
"Me and steal can't walk, and we both feel like we're dying" karma said
"Ah! Yes we did think about your conditions. And we decided to give you these" the doctor held out two big red pills. "One for each of you. If you take it then your bodies will feel lighter and your pain will numb a bit." He said. Karma hurriedly plopped it in his mouth and swallowed it. Tears forming in his eyes because he didn't have water and it was so big. The doctors started to laugh.
"Is there a problem!" Karma demanded as he wiped the tears in his eyes.
" well we were going to offer some water with that pill. " the doctor said as the others continued laughing behind him. I was handed a glass of water and given the pill. I took it and I was already feeling less dizzy and more lighter. "Whatever, you guys probably spiked the water anyway." Karma said who was now blushing. Now that I think about it the day my body started growing they must've spiked the tank of water they but me in.  the drug that made me grow. But..... How did they do that to karma who was running from the testing room? I looked over at him who was now standing up and glaring at the doctors.
"Glad to see you feeling better already" the doctor said. " anyway the drug lasts for only seven hours. And this is a big maze full of many things so you two better get going. Oh! And don't try to go into the same door cause we will see it on the cameras. Any you don't want to know what we will do. " the doctor said. Karma gulped. I felt myself getting nervous just thinking about it. The doctors moved aside and we saw the door clearly. It was the same stone door that all the rooms here have nothing weird about it. Karma took my hand and me and him walked into the room. The door immediately shut and Locked behind us.
"Hey!" Karma shouted and tried to open the door.
" you didn't say we couldn't go back! " Karma said. I tugged at his jumpsuit
"What?" He said kinda annoyed.
" look down" I said. He looked down and gasped the floors which was tile was now quickly filling up with water.
"You didn't say we had a time limit either!" Karma shouted to the door.
" you don't. Only for this room if the doors get fully cover by water then a shark will come in here and rip you apart that is one of the only ways you guys can die and we only need one of you of course we would like to have both of you but it's not a necessity. " said a voice coming from the camera on the ceiling. I looked at karma he looked at me. "Well I guess I'll be seeing you around" I said and started for the stone door closest to me.
"Wait!" Karma said I turned to look at him. He came splashing towards me. The water was moving fast and it was already up to our stomachs. He pulled me into a tight hug and I burried my face into his shoulder.
"Don't die" he said letting go.
"Only if you don't" I said back .
"Fair enough let's shake on it" he said I nodded he extended his hand and I extended mine and we shook our hands.
"You know this would be funny if we weren't about to die" I said almost mimicking his exact words from earlier.
"Har har " he said at this point the water was at our chins.
"You know You guys are about to die hurry this up" the voice said again. Without another word me and karma turned in different directions and went into the door that we had chosen.
