PROLOGUE: Competition
He stepped up to the microphone to speak, his mouth opening to answer the question. He spelled the word correctly and her world felt as if it was collapsing. She watched as her father got up to leave when the winner was announced for the 5th grade spelling bee. It wasn't her. It was Harry Styles, the guy who sits in front of her in class.
"I'll stay if you proof you're worth it." echoed deep within her mind as everyone packed up to leave around her.
Her little legs moved on their own, rushing out the doors as quick as they can, her breathing picking up as panic struck her. Her father was no where to be seen, he was gone.
She sat against the building and took deep breaths, tears falling down her face quickly. She was looking around for her father's face but she seen the boy who won everything; standing there laughing with friends as his parents watched with proud looks.
She knew from then on, she could never let Harry win again. Cori Deline was determined, she will do anything to make sure he loses.
