Prologue - Friendship

*This story is set at the end of Supergirl S01E18 - world's finest and beyond. Updates will be slow until I have finished the last 6 chapters of I'll join you but hopefully that won't take too long so i can write this.*

BARRY POV

    Sooo... this unexpected trip was certainly eventful. Here I am on another Earth with am unexpected friend. But a life long friend. If ever she needs me - I'll be there. And whenever I need help she'll be on the list. Near the top in fact. Like I said, life long friends. Not just one friend though, me and Winn are kind of like bros already and hes awesome. And I'm sure in the future, if u had it here, me and James would be alright too. It's kind of sad I have to leave. I could almost imagine if we were on the same earth. We'd be ultimate hero partners, because it's just fun here unlike Oliver who seriously hasn't had fun in years. But I need to stop Zoom. Then maybe I'll come back. SUPERHERO HOLIDAY! YEAH!

KARA POV

    I'll put it plainly. Barry would be great to have around here! I could use his help with whatever Myriad is and he's just so much fun. It's not hard to imagine what life would be like if he was on our earth permanently. Ultimate crime fighting duo right here. And the donut shop would have a significant influx of cash. It would be... nice to have a partner. Especially one as fin as Barry. Hopefully he'll visit us soon.

THIRD POV

Kara looked towards her friend in scarlet, "You really think this is gonna work?" He replied with deep thought obvious, "Well, watching Livewire and Banshee work together reminded me of something that we tried on my Earth once. You and I join forces. Literally. We combine your speed with my speed. If you throw me forward at your fastest, then I might just break the dimensional barrier and get back home."

Kara smirked at her friend and said, "What? What do you mean? Like a race?" Barry smiles slightly at that thought, "Yeah, I guess. Think you can keep up, Girl of Steel?" They both laugh slightly at how silly it all was as Kara taunts him back, "Just you watch, Scarlet Speedster."

    Barry suddenly sobers up and looks at Kara, "All right. I'm gonna miss you, Barry Allen. I'm really gonna miss you too, Kara Danvers. Or Kara Zor-El. Which is your alien name. Because you're an alien which I think is very cool." He takes a second to think before saying, "I think James Olsen thinks so, too."

     Kara looks at Barry in shock. "What makes you say that?" Barry smiles at his new friend wistfully and speaks with obvious... experience in his voice. And not in a good way. "You remember before when I told you to take things slow? That's good advice for a superhero, lousy advice for two people who really like each other.
Maybe it's time to speed things up." Kara takes all of what he says into careful consideration, "Maybe... Come here." Kara finishes off opening up her arms for one last hug with Barry, who gladly receives it.

    As Barry places on his tachyon enhancer he speaks a few motivational comments to himself and Kara, "All right. Let's do this." They both get ready to run. Barry smirks at Kara and says, "On your marks." Kara smirks back and says, "Get set." They both focus ahead of themselves, lightning flashing in Barry's eyes while he says, "Go!"

    They take off at supersonic speeds, slowly building up enough speed to open a breach. They smirk at eachother and then Kara pushes Barry forwards. He hits the right speed, in fact travelling a whole lot faster than the first time. But nothing happens as he flies through the air. He doesn't hit the barrier between the universes, nor does he travel through one. The only thing Barry hits is the ground.

BARRY POV

    I laugh bitterly as I hit the ground. Of course it's not that simple. It's not just about speed. It's about the SpeedForce. Either it's block8ng me, or it was that Kara s speed wasn't from the SpeedForce so a SpeedForce breach wasn't possible. Either one. Either way though, it looks like my stay on this Earth has been elongated. "Barry?" I can hear Kara asking me. "To be completely honest Kara, I have no idea what went wrong. I think it's to do with the SpeedForce. It's k8nd of like an entity in ways and an energy source in others. It gives me my powers and so theoretically could be the reason why I can't get through."

    I look at Kara with a renewed determination as I continue my speech, "Do you know of any possibly world threatening events that will happen soon?" Kara looks ultimately sad that I didn't get through. But I'm not focusing on how I feel, instead hoping that there's something happening to keep me running and my mind occupied. She responds a moment later, "All I can think of is that my evil uncle is planning something. Something big. So that could be the reason."

    I smile at her, trying to channel her infectious energy to cheer her up for once, "So we catch a bad guy, 85% chance of punching?" We both laugh at my use of almost exactly the same line she said earlier. "Yes, pretty much." I shoot her one last smile. "I'll go and see if Winn has room for a roommate, you've got more important things to worry about. I know I'm still here but my advice still stands. Don't take things slow." And with that I flash off to Winn's apartment.

    After I knock I wait for a second. I can hear him speak to his unidentified visitor, "Hello?" "Hello Winn." The door promptly opens and I see the concerned face if my new friend. After an immediate bro hug he  speaks first, "Barry my man, why are you still here?" I smile slightly at the parallels between him and Cisco as I respond, "Some complications I couldn't have predicted. The source of my speed won't let me through because there is an major threat here. Possibly. I don't actually know but that is my best guess. Either way I'm in need of a place to stay so... roommate?"

    Winn looks at me like I've just told him there is a Clone Wars season seven *THIS IS EARLY 2016 IN CANON. TCW S7 WAS ANOUNCED EARLY 2018. I could see the endless comments approaching...* and ushers me in, "Dude that would be my honour." I take a second to scope out the environment before I turn to Winn. "So... you have Star Wars on this Earth right?" Winn shivers slightly, "Of course we have Star Wars, I'd hate to find a universe where there isn't Star Wars and pizza." I shiver too at the thought, "A nightmare."

TIME SKIP 3 HOURS

    Me and Winn are watching intently the trilogy we have each seen at least 25 times when he suddenly freezes. He gets up and walks outside, almost robotically. I look out the window and see hundreds of thousands of people in lines, as if they're robots. I pick up my phone and call Kara. "Kara is this normal on your Earth?"

    I don't hear any comprehensible words come back from Kara. Just freaking out. "Kara I'm about to run over, ok. Just wait a second." I flash over into Kara' s apartment and she immediately starts to hug me. Again, still no comprehensible words. "Kara, breath. Just take a deep breath... and calm down." Now that she's stopped babbling nonsense, I start asking questions. "Kara, what... what happened."

    "I... I... I don't know! One minute I'm kissing James and the next he just freezes! And then just walks out! No words! I... I don't know what must have gotten into him." I get Kara to breath again before I show her outside. "Kara, it's not just James. Winn walked out on Yoda because of whatever's going on. No nerd would purposely miss Yoda and James doesn't sound like the kind of guy to do this. Whatever's happening, it's serious."

    We take one more look at the hoards of people in neat, robotic rows. Something is afoot and I have no idea what it is.
