The Diamond Baby: Chapter 1

Reagan Michaels' isn't the type of girl who stands out in a crowd, she is not a 'plain jane' by any means, but she's not the type to attract attention to herself. Unless she's been drinking. Like she has tonight.

She wasn't one to party much but when she did she wasn't afraid to let lose. The new semester at CC University had just started a month ago and she was already stressed out like crazy. That'll happen when you're trying to earn two bachelor degrees in the shortest amount of time and racking up extreme amounts of debt.

Working nights at a local hotel watching the front desk, and doing mild book keeping kept her very busy especially when you add in the 18 credit semesters. The cost of her education was completely on her shoulders. Her grades mediocre at best, the effort put into her school work was what she could manage with a full time job. Reagan knew she could take it easy and lower her time in class, but she had a drive to make something of herself and refused to slow down. Even if she often wanted to pull out her hair.

All of her troubles though melted away as she danced her heart out, very buzzed, at a Frat party her roommate invited her too. The house was off campus in area that regularly housed other students at the university. Most of the neighbors and even other people from nearby schools would stop by and party with everyone.

Swinging her hips as she screamed out the words to the song along with the other party goers, she felt high off of the energy in the room. These were the moments when she let herself be free, to enjoy her youth and have fun before she would have to return to the real world and leave her wild side behind. She wanted to make the most of her weekend off of work. Her roommate, Nila, whom she had been dancing with along with a few other girls threw her arms around Reagan's neck and hugged her telling her how happy she was. Reagan followed suit humoring her drunk friend, both girls expressing their love for each other and giggling like crazy.

The two broke apart smiling, and Nila went to dance with one of the Frat brothers in a very sensual manner. The two had been eyeing each other up since the girls arrived. Reagan suspected he may be the reason for the girls invite. It was best to assume, knowing Nila that Reagan would be going back to their dorm room without her.

Out of breath and dripping in sweat, Reagan pushed herself through the meld of other sweaty bodies massed in the main room, pressed together moving to the music. She made her way to the backyard passed the rounds of shots being taken and the couple who was getting a little too comfortable on the kitchen counter. Hopefully they clean up when they're done she thought.

Once outside the cool fall air chilled her sweat drenched body and felt amazing. Something sparkling against the moonlight had caught her eye. Before she could even question her actions, she had already stripped down to her underwear and jumped in the pool. The water glittering against the dark night sky. Even through her liquored haze Regan could appreciate the beauty before her in the simplicity of an empty yard at night.

The smell of the autumn air surrounding her, the sound of the waves lapping at the edges of the pool with every movement of her body. The way the ripples in the water danced so elegantly, as they faded away into the night. A gust of wind that blew ever so gently through the trees that were changing colors in preparation to shed their spring growth. The pure serenity she felt was magical until it was interrupted by the man she had failed to notice watching her as she tried to unravel the secrets held in the onyx depths of the night.
