SEVEN | interruption.

NOVA WALKED BACK to the cash register in a daze. Her dark fingertips bounced against the skin of her arm as she bit her lip nervously. She was still trying to process what happened. She took a deep breath as she narrowed her eyes at nothing in particular. 'Who the actual fuck is Anarchy?' She screamed in her mind. All this secrecy was beginning to piss her off. They all wanted her to get a job in the biggest company in the world, but they wouldn't tell her why. And apparently there's more of them–

"–hear me!"

The sound of her best friend's voice snapped her out of her daze. She was getting lost in her mind a lot these days. Jeez.

"I'm sorry, what?" She asked tiredly, wiping her face before looking at the dark skinned girl. Nirvana raised her eyebrow as she wiped her hands on her apron.

"I said, your whole mood deadass dropped when you saw freckles over there." The girl with the braids paused before speaking again. "Do you need me to beat her ass? 'Cause I'll walk straight out of this bitch and–"

"Nah, it's not like that." Nova said, chuckling a little. That was the Nirvana she knew, always willing to catch a case for her bestie.

"Then what is is like?" She questioned, glancing at the new costumers coming in.

"Nothing. She was a grade school friend." Nova lied again, ignoring the bad feeling growing In her gut.

Nirvana shrugged before taking out her notepad. Her fingers danced around the blue pen in her apron before sighing. "If you say so." She says before walking off.

Shaking her head, Nova turned to the waiting customers in front of the register. She forced a smile on her face, starting to take notice of the growing pain in her temples. She ignored the urge to groan.

"Hi, welcome to Louis'! How may I help you?"

"Ugh! Sometimes I can't stand them rude ass costumers!" Nirvana grumbled, laying her manicured feet along the length of the chair. It was just past nine and Nova had followed up on her promise to watch stranger things with her best friend. They had both agreed to take both cars back to Nirvana's place in case Nova had an emergency. Nirvana's fingers fiddled with the top buttons on her white button up.

"You're telling me? I swear they be begging to get punched in the face." Nova retorted, sighing as her back hit the brown comfortable cushioning on her bestie's couch. The stress and tension in her back and mind seemed to melt into the soft surface.
