"Come 'round children and I'll tell you a tale." A woman says rather dramatically, looking into the roaring fire. A few other adults called out to the children that were running around the woods of the campsite they were staying at. Eventually, they manage to gather all of the kids and sit them all down around the fireplace. "Have any of you heard the story of the woman who lives in the cave?" The same girl asks, turning to look at the children. All of them shake their heads except for one. The child raises her hand, waving it frantically. The woman laughs and points at the girl. "Why don't you tell us what you know about her." The small girl nods, a smile on her face. "She's a.. a.." The girl has to think of the word for a moment. Once she thinks of it she begins speaking again. "A siren! She lures people into her cave and she.." The girl pauses and looks around at the other children. "She kills them! Or at least that's what people say.. Her victims are never seen again!" The rest of the children all have scared looks on their faces. The woman starts to speak again. "Yes, that is true, but do any of you know what she was like before she became what she is now?" The kids look at eachother and shake their heads. Even the small girl shakes her head. "She used to be a normal kid, just like any of you. She was kind, caring. She wouldn't hurt a fly. But that didn't stop people from hurting her. People treated her like garbage. They would hurt and manipulate her. And she let them. She didn't care what happened to her. Everyone around her told her that she deserved it. That she was nothing but an insect, that she was a burden to all. That people wouldn't miss her when she was gone. So she believed it." The woman sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose. "She didn't have very many friends. Just one actually. She cared for that friend, and her friend cared for her. She was the only one that the girl could trust. The only one that respected her. But they were forced apart. That only made her feel worse. Her family wouldn't let her see her only friend. The only person that made her feel wanted. She never went outside of her room. She didn't want to be around anyone. One day she had a huge fight with her parents. So, as usual, she stormed into her room. But this time was different. She was fed up with the way people treated her. She summoned some kind of demon.. And she made a deal with it. Everyone that hurt her, that used her.. They would disappear. When she realized just what the demon meant, she ran. She ran as far as she could, away from everyone. Away from everything." The girl shakes her head and looks up, a small smile on her face. "And that's how she became what she is now. Sorry about how long it took. It was a bit long." She looks at the children. All of them were fast asleep except for the small girl, who was just looking at the woman.
(A/N: I'm sorry about how messy this first chapter is!! It'll get better, I swear. Also the woman telling the story's name is Alice.)
