mihyeon was born in daegu, south korea. has an older sister, mijeong and an older brother minhyeok.
mihyeon was eight years old when she started taking singing lessons. in school, she was known for her amazing singing voice. when mihyeon was ten years old she started taking gymnastics. mihyeon was great at gymnastics and won many competitions.
mihyeon was fourteen when she got into sm entertainment. she had to auditions two times before making it in.
her parents were a bit sceptical towards mihyeon becoming a kpop idol but after a lot of convincing from mihyeon, they let her go. the trainee years were tough on mihyeon but she never gave up and she soon became the sixth member of red velvet.
