Elle and Luke never knew each other before it happened, in fact, they were polar opposites. Luke came from a rich family, the owners of some big technology company, that obviously didn't exist anymore. Elle was raised by a single dad in a small town, the owners of a hunting store, which also wasn't existent anymore. Now, the two weren't important. In fact, they were more like background characters in a movie that followed the actions of their group, but this story puts a focus on them.
I know what you're thinking, that this is some sappy story about finding love in a horrible situation. When in reality, the story I'm about to tell is much different. This story is about courage and fear, about survival and grief, about sacrifice and friendship. But most importantly, it's about finding yourself.
I don't really remember how it all began, just that it was all over the news. They were calling it the Terminus virus, the biggest epidemic since the Black Plague. The virus would take over your body first, making you do unspeakable things. Then, slowly, it would take your brain and you would love those things. You would live for mutilating people, for spreading the disease.
As soon as my dad learned about this, he packed up his pickup truck and carted the family away, with most of the store in the back. The family at the time was my dad, me, and Jigsaw, the mutt that my dad rescued only a year before the virus started. Anyway, he drove us out to this old cabin in the middle of nowhere, where he thought would be the safest. My name is Elle Manning, I'm a survivor. This is where my story begins.
Authors note:
The story continuing depends completely on the audiences reaction, so please leave a comment telling if you would like me to continue writing, and some constructive criticism is always helpful. Thanks!
