ACROSS THE OCEAN
There were thousands of miles between us
but always you were on my mind
so I swam across the ocean
I left this land behind
Yes I swam across the ocean
through tall waves and thunderstorms
I fought off all the tiger sharks
who came around in swarms
Yes I swam across the ocean
past an isle of greek lore
I could hear the sirens singing
thoughts of you helped me ignore
Yes I swam across the ocean
though my back began to burn
I knew deep inside my heart
to you I must return
Yes I swam across the ocean
reaching you my only wish
I swam alongside dolphins
and was stung by jellyfish
Yes I swam across the ocean
when my body hit the sand
I struggled to my feet and
managed on wobbly legs to stand
Yes I swam across the ocean
then staggered to your door
I knocked until my knuckles bled
then I knocked some more
Yes I swam across the ocean
took so long to reach this place
yes I swam across the ocean
to once more see your face
