A F T E R

Dirt lane roads, in Arizona desert getting sandy by the wheels of my mustang, flexing the power of the engine by leaving a track of dust behind. I parked near the cliff's edge; tiny chucks of sand were crushed by the bottom of my red wine tenis, the feel of sand while you walked through always seemed pleasant to me. When i reached the edge of the cliff, having a screen of stars on top of my reddish head, shiny stars hiding the burried ones that were burried by the light of other brighter stars, with the cold desert wind i quickly took out a revolver and shoot myself inside the mouth. Well, that was the hole story, but let's flashback a bit, just 3 days before.

Im Wallas Brown, 19 years old, and I'm tired of living, 3 days after my 19th birthday i faked my dead.

It was a hot friday morning in Phoenix, Arizona. I waked up an hour later than normal. 9:01 A.m. 1 minute late, it was acceptable though, I put on my red wine shirt with some brown shorts. I jogged to the bathroom, where i brushed my teeth with my plastic yellow with red tooth brush, i took my pills and went to the kitchen. A chocolate cake was laying upon the oak table with two pieces of paper besides.

I'm going back in about two             days, happy birthday Wallas.

Returning for your birthday in some hours
-Laura (My mom died when i was 3 years).
I took a slice of cake and made my way outside, where the wind was slightly more notable than in the inside, it was howling strongly but the cool was almost none. The irrigators turned on wetting my shins, it was useless, considering that the grass was brown and dead, although we water it all days, maybe there was the problem. I took out a marlboro pack of cigarettes, lit one up, and starting smoking, the neighbor was watering it's flowers with a green hose, she sighted while she stared at me smoking, i nodded and said, "yeah, I'm 19, what? " she grabbed the hose and pointed it to me, she pulled the trigger and tried to water me too, i avoided it and said "yo I'm not a fucking flower" she dropped the hose and pointed the middle finger too me "you're just hurting yourself redhead" she said, i stared at her, then to my cigarette and realized that it was off, i walked to the white fence, and flicked the cigarette to the flowers, "you know what, fuck you, kill yourself with cancer shits" i gazed her eyes, common brown, but a complete different color on her, she walked to her house and closed the door. I jogged to my 1960 black mustang, i entered the car and lit up another cigarette, then i started the engine and made my way to the nearest McDondals.

Read lights matched with the red and purple morning sky, few cars were waiting to the color to change, it made sense cause everybody was in school or at work, but I'm an exception, i was "ill" because i ate rotten noddles, so i had 1 week of vacations; the light turned green, my car did a strong engine sound that proved that my feet was pushing the pedal. The nearest McDonalds was 30 minutes away from my house, but it was fun to drive to it so it was worth, i was dumbly thinking of my neighbor eyes, i did see her couple of times, but never close enough that i was able to see every single freckle, "she's cute" i concluded, "fuck, i was a jerk" i said to myself. I entered McDondals and sat down at the second row next to the window, the colors were simply stunning, "hey Wallas, how's everything going?" Tony said (Tony, 20 years old,he worked with me at McDondals)"I'm fine bro, what bout ya?" I answered "ya know, working 24/7" he said "happy birthday redhead" he added, i stared at him and said "thanks Tony" he nodded and said "so a Big Mac, right? " to wish i replied "ya know me so much tony" he laughed and jogged to the kitchen, i stared at the window, actually to the landscape.
The cactus seemed like people staring at the horizon, waiting for the sun to hide, or to show; but waiting. The sky was red as my hair, white dots called stars claimed it's existence by shining in a red sky, being faded by the sun's light and covered by clouds, giving shadow to the ground, tired of sun light, changing its shape every time a car passes by, lifting the dust to do the same process, lay upon the ground and eventually be lifted again by other cars.

Tony returned and dropped the tray on the table, then he sat down on the fake leather couch "a big mac for the birthday boy" i l fake-laughed and grabbed the big mac "is something wrong Wallas?" Tony asked me, i stared at the landscape again and said "i don't like birthdays, not especially mine" tony gazed my eyes and asked "why'd you?" I stared at the big mac and said "i... it's not important" he looked at me and said "so what're you going to do, today?" "For my birthday?" I replied, "well, yeah, I'm going to the cliff" Tony laughed and said "to the desert?" I took a bite of the burger and said "yeah, i like seeing stars" tony grabbed the plastic red tray and said goodbye "i need to keep on working buddy" i nodded and said "thanks for the burger Tony" he smiled and replied "this one's free, birthday boy" i gave him back a smile and then stood up, took out my wallet and placed $4.00 dollars then took out a pen i had on my shorts' pocket, and wrote a note that said:
-thanks Tony, but I'll pay my food :)
Wallas Readhead-

My mustang was already dusty, the sand was resting on the glass when i arrived; i opened the door and sat down on the leather seat, placed my seatbelt and started the engine.
It was 11:55 a.m. when i returned to my house, i didn't had an idea what to do next. The door squeaked as i opened it, the fresh air produced by the air conditioner cooled all my body, i jerky threw the keys to an ashtray, walked to the fridge to get some beer; when i arrived to the fridge, i was able to notice the emptiness in its inside, the fridge was almost empty, except for a couple of organic milk cartons. I sadly closed the fridge door and made my way to the living room's couch, i dropped myself into the couch; the panorama wasn't particularly marvelous, not even attractive, just a plain white ceiling, with couple cracks. I took out a cigarette and lit it up, placed between my lips and gave it a clade. The smoke filled my mouth and tickled my throat making me cough, i did a jerky move throwing the cigarette to the floor, after the event i quickly sat down on the couch; reflecting what happened? I got out of the house willing to buy some beers. The door squeaked again, letting know it was open again.

The supermarket was closed; ironically, a medium-sized convenience shop was in front of it, so it was the only option available. The door opened automatically when a customer came inside, ringing a bell while it opened, my shoes made the wood cracked as i passed through the old wooden planks. I got to the huge fridge at the end of the store, i grabbed a couple of beers and a litter of milk, then closed the fridge's door and made my way to the counter, there was no one lined up, just me buying beer, the cashier was standing behind a computer placed on top of the counter. A line of smoke came out of her mouth. I approached to her, a white hand flicked a white cigarette into an ashtray "Good mornin'" she said while she gazed her phone "hey" i said, she stared at me "What the fuck!" I quickly said "neighbor?" She took the ashtray and placed over the counter "Amanda" she shyly replied "you were smoking weed?" I asked, she looked behind her and said "I'm in rehab" to which i replied "yeah, cancer shit" "look weed doesn't causes cancer tho" she astutely responded, her plain brown eyes were a bit red by now "yeah sure" i gazed at her eyes "hey redhead, happy birthday" i looked at her, confused "how do you know that?" I asked "oh, i was smoking outside when i saw your dad leave" she responded (in fact, my dad always goes when it's my birthday) "you got a point red eyes" i answered, she gazed the pack of beers and said "so you're going to have a little gather together with friends tonight?" I laughed and said "Am i that fucked?" She laughed and lifted her shoulders "Nah, I'm goin' to the canyon tonight" i added, she looked at me, "it's a romantic idea, you're going with your girl?" I laughed and said "I'm not that handsome, i'on have a girl" she stared at me and said "so you're going alone..." "yeah..." i answered "Ten with ninety nine" she said "oh yeah" i placed the money on the counter and grabbed the pack of beer, with the milk carton laying on top of the pack. I quit the store jogged to my car, then placed the pack on top of the dusty hood, i quickly realized the situation and jogged back to the shop, the door open and the little bell rang, "Hey, Amanda... You wanna go to the canyon?" I asked "like the idea" she blushed, " okay, i... i knock your door, okay?" I added, "okay, see you tonight" she smiled, as i did.
