Name: Lilia (Lily)
-
A busted up leg was all it took for them to bench her completely.
Lilia didn't know how to comprehend it.
She tried to be reasonable at first, but her leg had been healed for a month, and they still had her benched.
It seemed strange to her.
Dean used to love hunting with her.
It was a match made in heaven, hunters would say.
Dean could finally care about someone and not constantly worry that they'll be in danger.
Lilia was a big girl who handled herself well and could kick the hell out of Sam or Deans ass if she had to.
So, it made no sense why this one slip up could set him on such a high alert.
He's Lilia's boyfriend and he's treating her like a child.
It frustrated the living hell out of her.
Lilia was never one to make a big fuss over anything, but hunting was her life, and it felt like it was being taken away.
"Babe?"
Dean looked up at her with a smile.
"Yes, love?"
She smirks and walks over to where he was sitting, plopping right down on his lap.
He smiles and wraps his arms around her hips.
"I was just wondering...if I could go on this hunt-"
Dean's smile fell instantly, and he sighed.
"Lilia-"
"Please, babe? I've been feeling really cooped up in the bunker. It's not only your job to save people, Dean. It's mine too. Need I remind you that I'm still a hunter?"
He sighed and rubbed his hand up and down her back.
"Yeah, yeah, you're right. You have been out of the game for a while, and I miss you on hunts. Sounds great to me."
Dean was lying to her face, and she saw right through him.
Lilia gets off of his lap, and crosses her arms, waiting for him to say something.
"...Really? You're just gonna sit there and lie to me?!"
Dean acts shocked.
"I really don't know what the hell you're talking-"
She groans loudly to cut him off.
"Cut the crap, Dean...Do you even want me to hunt with you anymore?"
The room goes dead silent, and they stare at each other.
Lily has anger flaring in her chest form being lied to.
Feelings of abandonment kindling this fire.
Her heart throbbed with pain.
"Well that's just great...I'll talk to you later."
She said with a heartbreaking crack in her voice.
Lilia tried to walk away, but Dean stood up and grabbed her arm, not finished with the conversation.
"Lilia, wait!"
She yanked her arm away and turned around, infuriated.
"What, Dean?!"
Dean almost jumps from the unexpected change in her tone.
"We're okay, right? Lily?
He spoke softly, trying to say sorry without actually saying it.
She scoffs with tears behind her eyes.
"Peachy."
Lilia walks away from him, furiously.
-
(Time to leave for the hunt.)
Dean worried about Lilia locked up and alone.
It had been an hour or two since she'd left their room.
He figured she must have been enraged.
He was nervous, but made the decision to check up on her.
The door creaked open slowly and Dean poked his head into the room.
To his surprise, Lilia was fine.
She was dry faced and reading a book on the bed.
"Hey baby...Can I come in?"
She looks up at him for a moment before looking back down at her book.
"You know you live here, right? You can do whatever the hell you want, man."
He purses his lips and fully enters the room.
"So...are you all packed? We kinda wanted to get moving by now-"
"Yeah, I'm not going anymore."
She closes her book and sets it on the beside table so that she can direct her attention to Dean.
Lilia knew this would be a long conversation.
Dean was now incredibly confused and slightly frustrated about what was happening.
"What?! But, babe, you said that-"
"I take it back. You obviously didn't want me to come on the hunt anyway, so there. You fucking win."
He rolled his eyes at her stubbornness.
"You're insane! First, you wanted desperately to come on this stupid hunt, and now you don't want anything to do with it?! Is there something that I'm missing here, Lily? Because, I could really use some enlightenment."
Lilia groans and gets off of the bed.
"You want to know what you're missing, Winchester? I messed up my ankle, and the whole time I was in bed rest all I talked about was hunting again! That's what you're missing. You told me that it needed time to get used to walking, but that was a ploy for...I mean what the hell is it?! Do you not like working with me anymore or something? Because I don't-"
"SHUT UP, LILY!"
She stopped in her tracks, flinching.
"Shut...Up...Do you really want to know why I stopped letting you come on cases?"
Lilia nodded hesitantly.
Dean scoffs and runs a hand through his hair.
"I was honestly just sick and tired of your excess baggage. You're deadweight, and you're finally not my responsibility anymore."
Lily's anger dissolved, and instead she felt a big gaping hole in her chest.
It wasn't sad or wrathful.
It was nothing.
"Okay...I guess that's that then. Have fun on your hunt, Dean."
The way she said it was almost sincere.
Dean expected a fight.
"That's it? No more fight?"
He asks suspicious of how calm she had become.
"That's it. Like I said, have fun."
-
Dean grabs his packed bag and sets it on one of the library's tables.
"Lily, we're taking off."
He says walking up to her.
"Be safe, and watch out for each other."
She says talking to both Dean and Sam.
He leans down close to her.
"I love you, so much. I'll see you when I get back."
Dean kisses her gently, but she barely returns it, which throws him off a bit.
Their fight was long from over, he thought.
Sam gave her a quick hug in an attempt to scrape away the awkward.
"I love you both. Have fun."
Lilia says from the bottom of the stairs as they make their way outside.
Lilia never lied.
Never.
She had packed a bag after all, but not for a hunt.
This trip was longer, personal, and more permanent.
She kept replaying what Dean said to her inside of her head.
She couldn't help but think that he was right.
Had she become deadweight?
She didn't know.
Even so, if there is one thing being a hunter has taught her, its that there is no room for slack on a case.
It's what her daddy lived by.
She forced herself to believe that this was better.
That she was slowing them down, and maybe she was no longer enough for them anymore.
Maybe she wasn't enough for Dean anymore, and all of this was just his cruel way of getting rid of her.
If it was, then it worked.
She was cutting off the deadweight.
