"Anauri, bring yo ass on I got moves to make" said Don from his Mercedes AMG GT R which was parked in front of my house. He always knew I'd rather drive my car which is safe than to be role playing Bonnie in death city. But since he insisted, I gave in. I finished putting on my scrubs and making sure I had all my necessities for the rounds of my 12 hour shift, grabbed my keys and headed out the door. "4-4 Anauri, why you keep doing this too yourself?" He hated that I worked 12 hours shifts, five days a week everyday. "Bills don't pay themselves, and I haven't seen anyone lending some checks to pay my tuition." I explained.
Don loved that I worked for my own, but hated that I wouldn't let him take care of me. I was raised different. I was told get it on your own, and whatever a man wants to do is bonus, extra. I'm currently a junior @ UAlbany double majoring in Bioethics and Neuroscience. While attending classes there, I'm also a intern at Lenox Hill Hospital. We left my apartment a little early to have lunch before my shift. One thing about Don, he was hood in these streets but soft and romantic when it came to me. My mama always told me that ain't nothing better than a man hood enough to protect you but soft enough to love you, I think I finally understand her. We pulled into my favorite pizza joint "Juliana's," to start our lunch off right. Don and I are regulars, they know us, our order and our ticket by heart. We sat at our favorite bench and waited for our food to come. While waiting for our food all I could do was stare at Don. I never let guys in simply because if they was going to hurt me anyway close to the way my dad did I didn't want any parts. I didn't want to become distracted but I guess this was all Gods Plan. We met when I was just 16, and Don was 19 and been stuck at the hip ever since. That's my dawg, my boyfriend, my chocolate drop but most of all my heart. I pray that God keeps a close eye out on this one each and every night. He may not be perfect, but he's worth it.
