chapter 9

"Um.... Thank you for saving me..... also Who are you?" I say looking at the girl who saved me from the last room.
" Who I am is not important. But what I do is" she says. I just look at her confused.
"Ok well were are we?" I ask. I looked around the room..... Well more like a hallway it's long but thin. But I can see the doors at the end so it's not that far. I start toward the doors. But the thing was i don't think we were moving at all. The door was not getting any closer.
"What is this?" I asked
"Well your not really aloud to leave unless you hear me out..." She says . I stop and turn to her
"Ok I'm listening" . I say
"Well I'm supposed to tell you some very important information" she says shrugging at me.
" this is just another test huh..... Well then hurry up and tell me" I say. Whatever is about to happen there is no way it could be worse than what just happened.
"Well the thing is..... I don't really feel like telling you yet. I want to know more about you first" she says and smiles at me. She sits down on the floor cross leg style. "Now let's start with how you came to this lab." She says looking at me. " I'm the reason my parents died. " I say looking at the ground. "And because of that these people found me and are giving me what I deserve." I say.  The girl gets up and gets close to my face.
" now do you really believe that? " she asked looking at me closely. I gulped and nodded. She smiled and backed away. "But if you really believe that then you wouldn't be happy here." She said. My eyes widened. And I looked over at her like she is crazy.
"You think I'm happy here? That's ridiculous! I hate it here!" I yell.
" wow so it seems that you are unconsciously happy huh? " she says stepping closer to me. I shake My head at her.
"Your crazy" I say to her.
"Yes most of us are aren't we? If we weren't than how could anyone survive this?" She says.
" I hate it here" I say. " But I guess it's what I deserve". I mumbled.
"No you don't hate it here." She says. " maybe you used to but ever sense you met karma you've been happy you don't really mind the tests as long as karma was around. But he has a secret. That he would do anything to keep it from you but it's my job to tell you this secret. " she says as she walks forward and leans so that her mouth is to my ear.
"Do you want to hear his secret?" She whispers into my ear. I shiver as I feel her breath tickle my ear. I nodded my head and said. "Tell me this secret."
" you know what" she says backing into the wall across from me.
"Lets just have karma tell you" she says.
She reaches into her pocket and pulls out a remote she presses it and the wall I was leaning on opens into a open door. I fall into someone's arms. I pull out and turn around. It was karma and two guards holding weapons behind him. I look at him and he was looking at the ground.
"Karma!" I say and hug him.  He doesn't hug back and he is still looking at the ground. I let go and step back.
" Did you beat me in the maze? " I asked looking at him. He just shakes his head no. I look at him he looks paler then a few hours ago and he looks like he's about to faint.
"What's this secret everyone has been telling me about?" I say to him. He finally reacted to my words.
" you said I could tell him" he says glaring at the girl who is still leaning against the wall behind. She shrugged " I didn't tell him anything" she said.
"She really didn't karma so just tell me" I say and reached for his hand. I grabbed it but he pulled away from me And backed up. The guards held out there weapons and pressed him forward.
"FINE!" He snapped he raised his head and glared straight at me. I gulped. He looked like he wanted to kill me.
" We aren't going to escape together" he says looking into my eyes. I felt shocked.
"What?" I asked.
" you heard me. We were never going to escape together. It was my job to be your friend. I was getting so tired  of it to" he says calmly. My eyes widened and I felt my self crumple to the floor. Karma was the only reason I never went insane here. It was because he always was there for the worst of the test. It felt so real. In the background I heard someone cuss
"Shit the pill wore off!" But I couldn't comprehend. I looked up at karma.
" so non of this was real? " I say then I shake my head before he could say anything I said.
"No you had to have felt something! This is just another test! There making you say this!" I say desperately . I struggle to get back on my feet and the girl behind me gets up and helps me. I limp toward karma and grab the sleeve to his jump suit.
"Its just a test it has to be" I say. He grabs my hand and pulls me away from his sleeve. He shakes his head at me.
"Oh steal. It was always a test. Even when you saw me fighting other kids. In fact I've never felt anything in my life. I don't have any feelings at all. It's true I don't feel anything. Remember when you wanted to know how I came here? I killed my parents. And not the way you did it OH no. I cut them up slowly made sure they were alive untill the very end and I didn't feel a single thing. He says calmly which made it even more scary.
" you never not even once felt anything. " I asked my voice getting smaller.
"Not once." He answers still glaring at me.
" Oh! Well that changes things doesn't it. " I say and fall to the floor again. Karma didn't say anything he just walked back to the door the guards followed and closed the door leaving me on the floor and the girl behind me. I Sat there for a long time not crying or saying anything. Just sat there and thought about everything. My parents, karma, the lab. Everything.
After a few hours the girl sighed and walked in front of me.
"Hey you still have to finish the maze you know!" She said with her hands on her hips. I just ignored her and kept staring blankly at the floor.
" Hey! Don't ignore me! " she says. "I'm just trying to help you!" She says. That just gets me mad I look up a her.
" help me? By ripping everything I care about away from me! That's not exactly helping. " I yell.
"Hey! I was paid to say all those things to you. If fact I didn't even know karma or his damm secrets. In fact I didn't even know this kinda stuff even happen here. My sister got captured by these people and I'm better my her back by following these peoples orders. And they said when you get to the end of the maze I get my sister back so I AM GETTING YOU TO THE END OF THIS MAZE! " she said yelling at the end. I just looked down again.
"Its no good I can't walk." I say.
" that's probably why they have me this pill" she says and pulls a pill out of her pocket. She hands me the pill and I gulp it down and look at her.
"So once we get to the end of the maze you will leave me alone right?" I say standing up. She just nodded her head. " what are we waiting for then? " I say and head through the hall but this time the doors are getting closer and we reach them in no time. I choose a random door and walk through it.
