*Steph's POV*

Before I start telling you this story about possibly the worst year of my life, lets get one thing straight. If you are here for some sappy One Direction story where they meet fans and fall in love -you know, the whole la de da, every girls dream- well keep walking. Let me guess, you love the boys with all your heart and you dream of marrying them one day. I once did too. And I'm also guessing there is one boy that you love just a little bit more then the rest, one that you are sure will one day be yours. If so, you are just like me. Or how I was. But the difference is, I loved them not as a band before the world knew about them because when I first met One Direction, they weren't a band. They didn't even know the others existed. They were just 5 boys living in different parts of England and Ireland. And I was just a girl living in Holmes Chapel who was deeply in love with a boy who just thought of me as a friend. And yes, that boy was Harry Styles. But back then, he was just known as Harry, the 18 year old who was a dorky teenage boy, not Harry Styles, Teen Pop Sensation. At first I loved hanging out with the boys. Now I can't stand to be anywhere near them. After spending as long as I did with them, you would change your mind too. Ok, so maybe it wasn't all their fault but after all we have been through, you have to put the blame on someone. So if you want a true love story, stay and enjoy -or hate I don't really care- this story of my worst year ever with One Direction.

I was a typical 18 year old girl. Well, maybe not exactly typical. I wasn't like the other girls that think the only way to get a boyfriend is to walk around showing more then 3/4 of their body. Then again, I was one of the only few who didn't have a boyfriend. I had never had a boyfriend. My mother had tried to set me up before but all the boys were just so boring. I always tried to get out of the dates but she insisted. The only problem was, I only liked one boy. Harry Styles. Actually, that wasn't the only problem. The other problem was that to him, I was just his friend. We hung out all the time. We were best friends and no matter how much I tried, that never changed. We were always just best friends.

I didn't really have many friends growing up now that I think about it. Besides Harry  and his friends that would hang out with us, my only other friends were two girls that didn't even live in England. They were my pen pals; Megan Sanico and Amber Geary. We wrote to each other all the time and they were both my age and very nice. They knew each other because they went to the same school in California, USA but I had never met them. I never would have expected that Harry would be the reason I got to meet them. Or that Harry would be the reason I met the boys of what would soon be One Direction. Or worst of all, that Harry -the boy I loved- would be the person I never want to see again.

Now, I could start this story telling you about mine and Harry's friendship from the beginning but I don't even remember. We have been best friends as long as I can remember because our parents were friends. So I am going to start by telling you when things started to go in a direction which I thought was going to be great but turned out to be the wrong direction. Also known as, One Direction.

*July 2010* *Steph's POV*

It's a saturday afternoon and I'm sitting on my bed with my headphones in listening to music, waiting for Harry to get off work. While he has been working at a bakery for quite a while now, I have never had a job for more then 2 weeks. Mainly because I can never get up early enough.

I click next on my Ipod and for less then a second in between songs when nothing is playing I hear my mom shout out through the house. I reach up to take off my headphones when someone jumps on me from behind causing me to fall back on my bed.

I scream and twist around to see Harry laughing at me. "I swear one of these days you are going to go deaf from having that music up so loud."

I laugh and reply with the simple, non effective, "Shut up." I smile but I can feel my cheeks burning.

Harry smirks and stands up. That's one thing that makes me grateful he is so non-observant. He never notices the Rosy red my cheeks turn when he does something cheeky or cute. But at the same time, I hate it. Maybe if he could see how I act he might realize that I want to be more then just friends. But it's useless. He sees about as much as an old blind man.

"Come on, I have a surprise to tell you." He smiles brightly and helps me up. I always think about telling him how I feel but I'm worried that he won't like me back and our friendship will fade. If I can't have him as more then a friend, I at least want to keep him as a best friend. Being friends with him is better then not being with him at all.

I look at him suspiciously, "Why can't you just tell me here?"

"Because, I have a more exciting way to tell you and it isn't just my surprise. You'll see! Just come on!" I grab my coat and he hauls me out the door and downstairs.

As we walk past the kitchen my mum glares at me with the "I swear if you don't hear next time there will be trouble" look and I mouth sorry but can't help a little smile from creeping across my face. She shakes her head and smiles, waving me to leave. I wave good bye and run out the front door to catch up with Harry.

"So, where exactly are we going?" I ask getting quite curious.

He just laughs and puts a little bit of a happy jump in his step. "I told you, you'll see!"

I sigh shaking my head. He can be such a child sometimes. I give in and stop asking questions until he stops walking in front of the Town Hall.

I look at him with a face full of confusion. "Why are we here?"

Nobody really ever goes to the Town Hall except for business meetings or to get building permits. What surprise could an 18 year old have here to show me?

He smiles again and I can't stand but admire his adorable dimples. He suddenly looks up and waves to someone behind me. I turn my head and see the other members of White Eskimo, the boy band Harry is in. "Hey guys!" He calls out to them and they walk over to us.

"So, have you told her yet?" One of the boys, Nick, asks.

I glare teasingly at Harry. "No, he hasn't."

He just laughs more and puts his arm around me which surprises me and leads me towards the building with the other boys following behind. "Well, let me show you then." He says and brings me over to a bulletin board by the front desk.

I look at him like he's crazy. "Whats so great about the board?"

"Look at it." He smiles and nods towards it. I agree and look at the board. I see a bunch of sheets for Yard Sales, Babysitters, and other things for sale but nothing that exciting. Then I see a little piece of red in the corner of my eye and I read what it says. It reads;

"Dear Residents of Holmes Chapel,

We Congratulate the teenage boy band White Eskimo for getting the chance to perform at the Battle Of The Bands in London on the week of July, 10th. We hope the best for you and we will all be supporting you back home."

I squeal and Harry covers my mouth while laughing and I remember where we are. A bunch of people with fancy suits and briefcases look at me but I just smile like an idiot anyway. I jump into a huge hug with Harry and the other boys laugh along before joining in.

"Harry, this is amazing!" I say trying to hold back my excitement. "You are going to have an amazing time."

The boys all nod and Harry smirks at me, "Steph, you have been to every one of our concerts. That's not stopping now."

I look at him confused at first before I realize what he means and I almost squeal again before covering my own mouth and laughing. Harry bursts out laughing, "Yes Steph, you are coming too. And I managed to get you V.I.P. tickets for every night."

"We're going to London!" Nick screams, punching a fist in the air and we all laugh and hug eachother as people walking past give us the strangest looks possible.
