During World War Two, less than five years after my Aunt Polly visited Dusseldorf, it was firebombed . Tucked in my aunt's scrapbook I discovered this movie flyer for Die gelbe Flagge. I wonder how many of these flyers survived the war.
Sixteen-year-old Polly is infatuated by a boy in the opera house. Life is so tragic. As a child and a teenager, my grandmother wrote often about Polly's charm and winning personality. Within eight years Polly will be diagnosed with schizophrenia and spend her life in and out of institutions.
