Shawn Mendes *POV*
It was a typical day, I mean, as typical as a day could be for me. I sat in a Starbucks, undisturbed, for the time being, at least until someone discovered me. But at the moment, I wasn't being surrounded by fans, begged for autographs,... and I'd say that was relieving. Though I cared for my fans, and their support, it was a welcomed change from the stress of last night's concert.
I decided to make my way to my car when my eyes widened to see a flock of girls pointing to my car and giggling. That was before they spotted me...
So much for a typical day...
Was running a reasonable option? No, I'd never make it. Hiding? Cowardly, but possible. Facing them? Never. At least, not today-- not on my "typical" day.*****
Katie Mitchell *POV*
I pulled into the parking lot of the strip mall that I was accustomed to visiting on Saturdays. A flock of girls parted to let me through, and I saw mischievous grins as the girls chattered on, continuously pointing at a black Jeep that sat there. My heart fluttered as I realized I recognized that car. And that was when I saw Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome himself. Crouching beside a bush and fiddling with his phone.
I moved to push open the passenger door of my car, and I whispered loudly, "Shawn! Shawn!" As he looked up, his facial expression changed; unreadable. I could tell by studying him that he hadn't forgiven me. But honestly, had I ever expected him to?

Shawn Mendes *POV*
It took a while for me to sort out my thoughts. Katie. My thoughts had been consumed by her. And when I saw her, the painful memories that had drowned me for the past year surfaced. However, underneath everything she couldn't read, I knew I still loved her. Had I forgiven her? I struggled with my indecisiveness. The heartache. I pushed my doubts aside. She was my escape.
Climbing into the car, I looked at her, for the first time in a year. She hadn't changed; her unbreakable smile, the way her hair fell into her eyes as she drove, damn, she was beautiful. I saw her shoulders tense as I opened my mouth to speak. "So what brought you to my rescue? I thought I was supposed to be the knight in shining armor."
"Well, I recognized your car and saw the crowd of girls eyeing it. Knowing you, I figured you'd be trying to find a way out. I couldn't leave you there, Shawn," she chuckled a bit.
"Thank you. I mean, I probably would've found my own way out eventually."
"Shawn, I haven't seen you since... well, you know. I've needed to talk to you, but you never gave me that chance," she sighed and ran her fingers through a strand of her blonde hair.
"I'm still not sure whether I've forgiven you or not. Katie, what you did broke my heart and when you left, you took a piece of my heart with you. A piece that I still haven't recovered." I tried to hide the pain that was evident in my voice.
