I was sitting on the front porch of my old house drinking a cup of tea trying to collect my thoughts. All i could think about was Niall. He wanted this 'break'. What is that even suppose to mean? He cheated on me and he wants a break? i should be the one asking for a break.
"Elena, come inside! I made fresh baked cookies."
"Kay." I say and mope my way into the dining room. the smell of warm chocolate chip cookies filles the room. Some how everything i do reminds me of Niall. I sit at the head of the table and childhood memories come running back to me. Me sitting in my chair with my brother right beside me, and our mother across from us. We ate and talked about or day then we got silent as soon as we heard the key enter the lock. My father was home.
I was shocked by the loud crash waking me up from my deep thoughts.
"What was that?" I asked and took a bite of my cookie.
"It was just my pan, I dropped it." My aunt yelled from the kitchen.
"Ok." I mumbled.
Shortly after she came into the dining room and sat in the chair across from me setting down her coffee.
"How's your life been going?" She asked making conversation.
"It's been pretty hectic." I said for lack of better words. I didn't really wanna tell her about the whole Niall thing. "How's yours?"
"Mines been good. Ever since your brother left I've been lonely. I don't know what to do any more!" She explained sipping on her coffee.
"I miss Ryan. I haven't seen him in forever." I confessed. The last time I saw my brother was my high school graduation. Six years ago.
"He misses you too. Believe me." My aunt said staring out the window.
"Did you hear that?" I asked looking around the room.
"Hear what dear?" She asked sounding like she was hiding something.
"It was like," I slapped the table with my palm to imitate the sound.
"I didn't hear anything." She mumbled.
The next few minutes, the room screamed awkward. We sat in silence for a good ten minutes. I just showed up on my aunt's doorstep yesterday expecting her to help me through this. I thought it would be simple since she is my aunt but this is too hard. I can't even bring myself to tell her and I haven't seen her in a whole so distance did some damage.
"You need a cat." I said breaking the silence.
"Oh no, that's too much work. And all the pets we've ever had always hated me!" She said.
"But it would make you less lonely!" I said.
"Maybe I'll get a fish." She whispered picking up a cookie. "So how's Niall been doing?"
Niall. That one word was all it took for me to completely loose it. All that composure was just thrown out the door. I sobbed uncontrollably. I couldn't take it. Now I have to explain everything.
"Elena?!" She said, "Elena are you ok?!"
I shook my head and wiped a tear off my cheek with my sweatshirt cuff.
"Please tell me what happened." My aunt begged placing her hand on top of mine.
"Niall cheated on me with some girl named Alexa a couple weeks ago" I say between sobs "Then yesterday, he said we needed a break, so I left our flat which is why i spent the night here." I explian.
"Oh honey, i'm so sorry! If you ever need anything, im always here for you." My aunt tells me. She gives me a big hug.
"I just don't understand!" I shouted. "We had been dating for over 3 years!"
"Guys are stupid honey. I know about all the idiots in the world." She mumbled that last part. My aunt had gone through five nasty divorces. She's the closest thing to a mother I have.
"Thanks for everything Aunt Mindy." I said.
"It's what I'm here for." She said patting me on the back.
I weakly smiled at her and rubbed my eyes. They were stinging because I had gotten mascara in them.
"Why don't you go get some rest."
I followed her requested and trekked up the stairs to any room with a bed and I just belly flopped onto it.
My mind was racing with thoughts. Was I not good enough? Was I a bad girlfriend? Is he sick of me? Was I too much of a bitch? Is that why he cheated on me? I was just so mad that he could be such a dick and kick me out of the house we bought together and then I was depressed because I no longer have my best friend. My boyfriend. My life was taken away from me. I know how corny that sounds but Niall was the only person I could really trust. And now I feel like I can't trust him as much any more because if this little incident.
I must of fallen asleep because, the next mourning, I wake up and my phone keeps buzzing non-stop. I check to see who the messages are from, 3 from Liam, 2 from Louis, 1 from Zayn and Harry.All the messages basically said the same thing. Asking me if i was alright and Niall hasn't been acting himself lately. I sent out one mass text message to all the boys, except Niall, i said that i was doing OK its just that i miss Niall but otherwise i was fine. I decided to check twitter. #sorryelena was trending. That was weird. I don't remember telling anyone about what happened besides my mom. Oh wait, I told Sadie. How could Sadie do this! I tell her everything and she always keeps my secrets. This was so unlike her. I grab my phone and text Sadie. I write,
Did you tell anyone about me and Niall?
As i wait for a response, I check Niall's twitter, he's loosing followers by the minute. I click unfollow because I felt like I needed to. Sadie still hasnt responded and i cant be on twitter any more. I go downstairs and try to find my mother.
"Aunt Mindy!" I yell
"In the living room!" she yells back.
I run to her and tell her everything about us, the boys, twitter and just everything. I just couldnt take it anymore.
"I miss him so much, but I shouldn't, he was such a jerk. He cheated on me and he wants a break from me? Why, so he can cheat on me some more? I just don't understand." I cry. I feel so helpless.
"I know sweetie. Elena, if he still cared about you, he would come back. Just wait. He'll come back sooner than you think." My aunt told me.
I just sat there for the rest of day wondering why I'm not good enough for Niall. Why he cheated on me.
*Buzz* *Buzz*
I reach for my phone because it kept going off. It was from Sadie, she said:
"I never told anyone! I would never do that to you Elena."
Thats really strange. I text her back.
"Can you come over please?"
10 minutes later there's a knock on my door. I run and get it because i know excatly who it is.
"Sadie!" i scream and give her a huge hug
"How are you?" Sadie asks worried.
"I'm OK i guess." I say and lead her up to the room I slept in. We sit on the bed and just talk. I really missed this. I haven't gotten to see her very much because I was with Niall a lot. This was nice.
"So you didn't tell anyone." I ask.
"Not a single soul." Sadie says seriously.
"Then who did?" I say.
"Elena, do you think Niall told?!" Sadie says with exciment.
"Hmmm, I don't think he would do something like that."
"Then who was it?"
"Sadie, remember how I told you Niall cheated on me?"
Sadie shook her head.
"Maybe Alexa told for attention. And she hates me to" I explain.
"Well if she wanted you to get hate, her plan backfired. Let's check her twitter!"
I open my mac and went on Alexa's twitter. Her latest tweet said it all.
