Hello RTMC fans...

A one shot on RTMC in a historical setting.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The young girl walked up the stairs of the temple nimbly balancing the puja ki thali in one hand and holding her bow in the other. She stood in front of the idol and gave the puja materials to the priest.
Her eyes were closed, her beautifully shaped hands folded and her head bowed in respect in front of the deity - Maa Gauri
"Hey Maa... hume itni shakti den ki hum apne pitashri ke har manokamna ko purn kar saken."
She finished her arati and walked down the stairs to take three rounds around the temple building as per the rituals. Her eyes were glued to the ground as she took the rounds.
All of a sudden she could hear the approaching footsteps. Someone was coming in her direction in a hurry. As sharp as an arrow she turned around to face her attacker and immediately collided with a figure.
"Ufff..."
Instantly strong arms were wrapped around her waist and she looked up in time to see a set of anxious eyes set on a very handsome, chubby and naughty face.
"Kshama kare..." He softly set her down on the grass. "Humne aapko dekha nahi tha... warna hum aise bhagte hue nahi aate..."
She found herself smiling even in her anger. "Ho jata hai kabhi kabhi...koi baat nahi...par aap..."
Someone called her from the fron of the temple. "Kumud... Rajkumari ji... kahan hain aap."
She stood up from the ground to face the mysterious stranger. "Hume jana hoga. Devi Maa aapki raksha karen... pranam." she walked away with her head held high, her gait straight, her bearing proud, her steps unfaltering and left a gaping and smiling youth behind.
She looked around the Rajmahal which was bustling and alive with activity. It was the annual 'Devi Mahotsav' which was just a week away. And this time it was a twin celebration. Her father the great king of the precious and rich land of Sumaina had succeeded in erecting a 'Swarna Mandap' in the honour of the presiding deity of the kingdom ...the Goddess of warfare ... Mahashakti.
Mahashakti as she was called by the people of the kingdom - better known as Maa Durga or Devi Durga to most of the other people was the most important goddess in the land. The whole kingdom was covered with temples of Mahashakti.
Maharaj Shaktisen ...the ruler of Sumaina was a noble and just ruler and a pious and rule abiding monarch. He was a widower who had chosen to remain so rather than marry once again. He treated his subjects as his own children and spent his time in taking care of them, making sure that they had all the comfort and security which his administration could provide. Art, craft and literature was encouraged during his reign. Artists and craftsmen from afar used to visit his Kingdom because everyone knew that Maharaj Shaktisen was a connoisseur of art and he gave apt and just treatment to all of them. In addition to it he had a strong army and he took care to maintain it that way because he firmly believed that only a strong ruler can properly administer peace in the kingdom. It was a golden period in the entire history of Sumaina.
