I'm in Target...again. Literally for the third time today. I've spent way to much money in this store, not just today but everyday. It just makes me happy. I love going from the gym, straight to Target and of course I grab a Starbucks to suck down while I shop. So basic, I know.
My name is Samantha Harris, I'm a boy mom to two boys and I'm a high school teacher. Summer is almost over which is why I've made three trips today to Target.
I teach English and I really do love my job. I love the school and everyone I work with. I especially love my students. I always want my classroom to feel welcoming which is why I'm at my favorite place.
I could go up and down every isle and still find something new I "need".This year I got a couch to put in my classroom to make it more homie. I mean honestly, we are in the classroom more than we are at home so I want it cute! I always have random students come in my room that I don't actually have in class. I'd like to think it's because I'm a cool teacher, but honestly I think it's to use my lotion and sprays I have for them.
Yes, I have a basket of lotions and sprays for my students and other teachers to use. You'd be surprised how many students in the past have asked to borrow lotion. Weird. I would have never asked my teachers to borrow lotion! I have been teaching for 16 years and they've always asked for lotion. Not just the girls either! Boys gets ashy too!
As I'm in the college section looking at rugs for dorm rooms (or my classroom), my phone starts ringing. My youngest son is FaceTiming me.
I answer the phone, "Hey!"
"Hi Mommy," Hunter said.
"Hi baby! What are y'all doing?" I asked.
"Kolton is playing Xbox and I'm watching kids YouTube," he said.
"Ok, well I just got done at the gym and I'm at target so I'll be home soon. Do y'all need anything?" I asked.
"Nope. Bye, love you."
"Love you too, bye!" And I hung up the phone.
Back to rugs. The couch I got is grey and I don't want to spend a crap load of money on a rug so I'll just get the grey shag one. Plus there's a coupon on the Target app for home items.
I grab the rug, along with a couple of fake plants, some other odds and ends, and a little sign that lights up that says "NO BAD DAYS". Because I'll probably be needing that reminder at some point this year!
I always go to self check out at any store that has it. I pull out the Target app and there is a coupon for $10 off if you spend $50 on home items. I scan it and it works. I swipe to the next coupon and it's for $25 off if you spend $100 on home items. I scan it and it works!! Of course the fine print says you may only use one coupon but I'm in self check out and the lady in the red shirt isn't paying attention. Score! Jesus knew this poor teacher needed a little break today!
I put everything in my car and add up how much I spent today. Ugh, I need a second job. I look at my ten year old SUV and just say a little prayer of thanks that it's still running.
I pull onto my street and I see Clay's truck in the driveway and I smile.
