That was my mom, Kendra, and I'm Star. I'm my moms third kid out of four. We live in the projects where if you not dealing you stealing, and it was hard out here, but we survive....
"Star Star STAR wake up before we miss the bus" I could hear my older sister loud mouth but I refused to get up. "Ugh Keisha give me five more minutes". "Ok but when mama come in here swinging don't blame me" Keisha said walking out our room. Five minutes turned into 15 and I rushed up wishing I would've listened. As I walked out my room fixing my hair in the process I see Keisha, Deven, and Man Man rushing out the door and I rush behind them. When I arrived to my school, Chestnut High School, its the same old same old. There's the played out dope boys shooting dice, the stuck up cheerleaders practicing routines, the nerds reading books, the jocks being jocks, and then there's my friends waiting by our lockers for the first Bell to ring.
The day was finally over and like everyday I met my friends at our lockers before getting on the bus, it was the last day before summer and we were excited.
" So Star when are you going to quite playing and join the math club" my friend Tasha stay bugging me about that smart people stuff I wasn't really feeling it tho and plus it's summer not spending it counting x's and y's.
" Look Tash when a cheerleader comes to me and asks me to be on the "Squad" I will join the math club
" I told you don't ask she's as stubborn as a tick",my other friend Michael says.
"Well see y'all tomorrow, call me Tash", I yell out to my friends as I rush out to my bus.
Little did I know tomorrow would probably be the last time I'll see them, I can't believe this
