Blue medieval wedding dress^^Shortly after Amelia and I returned to her house, we had breakfast and Mrs Roth dragged us to the Hughes house. Their home was already buzzing with women and girls, no doubt helping with whatever preparations a medieval marriage required. I just wanted to see Mille, after tomorrow I might never see her again. Neither might Amelia and Barrett who were closer to her ofcourse than I was, but she was still part of the little group I had formed. Mille was in her room when Amelia and I found her, the room was filled with girls and a few women, their mothers, congratulating her and excitedly chatting about her future husband and marriage life and her wedding dress etc. Mille's neutral face brightened seeing Amelia and I enter." Mille!", Amelia rushed to her friend and hugged her and Mille warmly responded. It left me feeling a little bit awkward, do I hug her too?. I was only a friend of a month and approximately half while Amelia was her childhood bestie...
Mille solved my problem for me by coming forward and hugging me on her own, I was only happy to respond, awkwardness diverted!. I smiled at her," How are you?"
She sighed," As good as I can be. Who knows, something good may come out of this", she shrugged.
" That's the spirit I have been trying to talk her into for days", Eloise responded, coming in the room with refreshments for everyone.
All of us exchanged glances, of course we wanted to talk privately, about the plan and stuff. But how do you steal the would-be bride away to talk privately without everyone protesting?.Everyone would want to be surrounded by her, naturally. Mille solved this problem for us too," Uh, Eloise, Emma, Amelia, a word?. What would you be wearing tomorrow, I hope you don't clash-", she gripped Amelia and my arm gently as she led us quickly out of the room. She ducked behind me as she signaled us to go outside, avoiding everybody in the process. Once we were at a "fairly" isolated spot outside her house she breathed a sigh of relief," That was hard"
I nodded," It was, but we made it", I gave a weak chuckle.
Mille's dark eyes darted to Amelia," So..are you all set?"
Amelia nodded, making Mille purse her lips in worry. She clasped Amelia's hand in hers," It'll all go according to plan, dont worry", she reassured her," I wish you all the best, it's a long time overdue"
Amelia smiled gratefully and gave her a squeeze. I cleared my throat," By the way, have you met your fiancé?" I asked, changing the subject. She simply shook her head," Just got a glimpse of him, when our families met", she answered, dismissively, not wanting to talk about it. From the time I had known her, she had always been like this, introverted. I was more awkward around her than any of the girls, because she didn't open up easily and always remained brooding. However, it didn't mean I didn't like her or I wasn't concerned about her being married off against her will to a complete stranger but what could I do?. It was the Middle Ages.
We didn't get a lot of time after that to tell her the plan or anything more, a woman from the flock in the house found us and upbraided us, lightly, for keeping the bride all to ourselves. It was just mindless blabber about dresses and romance and shit after that for the rest of the day until it was time to home. Amelia and I discussed the plan one last time to avoid any blunders at last minute before sleeping. I was hella tense, how could I not be?. I knew I was going to get caught up in the middle of this and I wasn't looking forward to a very bright future anyway. One day, which was not far, my fate was going to be the same as Mille, if not more considering Mrs Roth would be desperate ( and probably mad at me for helping Amelia elope) to marry me off to whatever boy she could find her hands on. I couldn't run away because where would I run?. I didn't know anybody apart from the people I did know here. Honestly I had a whatever happens, happens approach by now about this whole fiasco. With that in mind, I went off to a troubled sleep.
