Ok! So this is an extended version of an amazing one shot from Boyxboy one shots by sociallyawkwardqueer
They are an amazing writer who has given me the liberty of extending their oneshot. I didn't change the actual one shot itself, just added to it. Italics is what I have added although I did have to make one part of their writing itallics for it to make sense. Definitely go and read theirs because it was amazing, and they do a lot more like it.Anyway please enjoy my extension of Nice.
Everyone's so nice when you're dying.
They rush to get you whatever you want and make sure you're as comfortable as possible, like they have nothing better than to wait on someone who's running out of oxygen no matter how much the machine next to your hospital bed says its pumping into you. They speak softly, like any sudden loud noises would kill you ahead of schedule. They don't argue with you or each other, like it could send you into cardiac arrest because of the unnecessary stress. They act like they would around a child, speaking kindly and not cursing, like they don't want the last words you here to be swearing.
Everyone acts this way. Family members, nurses, doctors, other patients, heck, even strangers sitting outside in the waiting room act like this.
Except for Elliot.
No, Elliot just acted like he always did. Flipping me off and sticking out his tongue whenever I asked him for a favor.
“El will you get me a water from down the hall?” I asked sweetly. Mom was here this morning and I could tell she was uncomfortable.
Elliot just stared at me, eyebrow raised slightly.
“Please?” I smiled like a child. He just huffed and walked to the door.
“Thanks loser” I called after him.
“Whatever asshole” he called back flipping me off as he walked down the hall. I just laughed. Mom was unamused.
Raising his voice whenever he’s excited or happy or poking fun at me.
“Oh my god!” Elliot practically yelled from where he was sitting across the room. My Parents and sister had just gotten here, and were already annoyed with him.
“What?” I asked, curious as to what he did this time.
“My cousin is getting married” he said simply showing me the phone. There was a picture of a hand a beautiful diamond on the ring finger.
“oh my god it's beautiful” I stared at the phone. “when are you gonna propose then?”
“To you? Never” He teased, taking his phone back.
“Asshole” I laughed
Arguing with me over what channel to set the TV to and weather pineapple is good on pizza.
“What do you wanna watch?” My mother had asked, picking up the remote and flipping through the channels.
“Hallmark” I said, before I heard a scoff from the boy lying next to me on my bed.
“No” he scoffed.
“Yes” I replied, nudging his arm with mine.
“Hallmark sucks”
“Hallmark is amazing how dare you!”
“Do you boys want pizza?” Mom asked trying to stop the argument.
