After school, I started to walk back to my house. I figured my mother would be out, probably getting drunk or something. I turned the corner when I heard Harry call out behind me.

"Briana!" I turned around and sighed.

"Harry, I just want to go home,"

"I don't want to leave you," He said.

"Why! You think I might kill myself? Cut my fucking wrists?"

"Bria, just come over to my house, then you don't have to be alone. You can meet my dog, Charger, if you want,"

I rolled my eyes and walked away.

"Bria, come on, please," I felt the corners of my lips twitch into the faintest of a smile.

"Fine," He grinned at me and my smile grew a tad bit bigger. His hand reached over and grabbed mine. A shock ran through my body. I didn't grip his hand.

Together, Harry and I walked to his house. He opened the door and I let go of his hand. I took a seat on one of is couches.

"I'm here, just like you wanted," I said, crossing my arms.

"Erm, yeah. Wait! Yeah! You gotta meet my dog!" He said all excitedly.

"My mom bought a dog to keep her company when I leave, like, two days ago," He ran up the stairs. I laughed at how exciteded he was. He came back down the stairs holding... the cutest puppy ever.

"Briana, this is Charger. He's a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog," He said proudly, holding the squrimy dog. My eyes widened and I stretched out my arms as a gesture to hold the dog.

"Hi Charger," I whispered, as Harry handed him to me. The dog rested on my lap and I stroked my hand over it's back.Harry smiled down at me.

"He likes you," he grinned. I smiled back. "See, it's one of the things to live for." I looked up at him, confused.

"Animals, you can live for animals. See, Bria," Harry said, sitting beside me as I continued to pet Charger.

"Animals, they will never judge you, they don't care what you look like. As long as you give them proper lover, they'll give you love back. It's just one of the things to live for."

"Laughter and animals..." I whispered, thinking back to when Harry and I had ran through the rain.

"Why are you so damn nice to me." I layed my head into the dogs fur, letting tears slip down my face.

"Bria! Bri! Are you okay?" Harry wrapped his arms around me as I sobbed.

"No, I'm sorry. I-i I just. I've never had anyone treat me like they actually care about me. I'm sorry."

I sat up, pushing my hair back and quickly wiping my eyes. "I am fine, honestly,"

"Thank you Harry, but I think i'm just gonna leave now." I knew my mom was going to kill me (quite literally) if I wasn't home soon.

"Alright, Briana. I'll see you tomorrow?" He asked. I nodded before walking out the door.

I tightened my jacket around my body as I walked quickly to the run down apartment that I call my home. I swung open the door to the house where my mom was already standing in the doorway. I gulped. She had one hand wrapped around a partially empty beer bottle. Her hand was pressed against the side wall to steady her drunken self.

"You! You were supposed to be here an hour ago!" She slurred. Had it really been an hour?

"I-i'm sorry. It won't happen again, I swear."
