It is a brilliant afternoon in New Bark Town as a breeze blows through the quiet town and a smell of berries lingers through this green town. In the top left corner, there is a pokémon lab owned by a man named Professor Elm and right beside it, is a house owned by a 12 to 13 year old named Chloe whose dad died 2 months after she was born, lost her older brother a long time ago, and lost her mom 2 weeks ago after an incident in the in Goldenrod, the city of gold and technology, and is taking care of a kid named Ethan. Right below Chloe, is a demolition team replacing a house and moving the gym from Goldenrod City to this place due to the incident. They will also be replacing the Gym Leader with Chloe and will be making it a Dark type gym. Now, just to the left of the demolition and just below Elm's lab is a house owned by a kid named Gold who lives with his single mom.
Inside the house, on the top floor, Gold was getting ready because today was the day he would get a starter pokémon from Professor Elm. Gold had black hair from some strange gene in his DNA and had dark blue eyes. His skin was a strange peach color, and everyone who visited or lived in New Bark Town called him a freak except for Ethan. In fact, Ethan is the one who would back up Gold if he was in trouble. Gold often got into fights and took martial arts to defend himself. However, there was one thing that Gold could do that most can only learn from one or two species of pokémon; he could understand all pokémon languages. Not only that, to him, pokémon sound like they're speaking human to him. It's not very common to see a gift like that
As Gold was getting ready to get a pokémon, his Mom was cooking a little lunch before he went. His mom was frying ham in a pan in some Canola oil. Gold came smelling the ham as it was cooking and the oil was making the ham look like heaven in a pan. Gold was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. He was in blue tennis shoes to help him run, as 10 other people will be trying to get pokémon as well and only three are given away every two months. He began to leave and his mom said, "Hold on you haven't eaten lunch yet."
"Don't worry," said Gold with a slight chuckle, "I'll be back; it'll only take a second." Gold had then opened the front door and started on his way to Elm's. He went and noticed that there were police at his place, which hasn't happened in 4 years when a kid and new champion named Silver stole a pokémon from the lab, but he was never charged because he was forgiven. The former champion used to live in Chloe's house, but he moved to Kanto after he lost his position as Champion.
As Gold went into the lab, he saw there was only one pokémon left and Elm was being questioned.
"Who did this?" said a police officer.
"I don't know," Elm said.
It was only five seconds before Gold was noticed.
The cop ran over to Gold and after one look, said, "You're coming with me. The criminal always comes back to the crime scene. You must've done it." The cop was dragging Gold by his arm to the door grabbing a pokéball that read "Pidgeot". He was going to take me to the police station and call my mom. This did not look good for me. However things twisted another direction as the door in front of us opened and I heard a very similar voice to one I've seen on TV.
"You won't be taking that kid to the station," the person said. He wore blue jeans and a black jacket with a red line down middle of the front of the jacket and the wrist area of the jacket were also red, and his hair was a dark red while his eyes were gray. Now Gold knew why his voice was familiar. It was Silver, the recent champion of Kanto and Johto, he had recently been on TV for catching the legendary pokémon, Moltres.
The cop was shocked to see him at such a time.
"What are you doing here?" the cop said in an agitated tone, "I am in the middle of arresting the culprit."
Silver just chuckled at the police officer.
"Does he know who the police officer is?" Gold thought.
"This is the 26th time you've assumed the culprit was the next person to enter the scene." Silver said to the police officer. Gold's theory was correct. Silver seemed to know who the police officer was. "This is NOT going to look good on your evaluation next week."
"You're kidding me!" the police officer exclaimed.
"You know him?" I asked Silver. He smiled.
"Are you kidding," the cop replied to me, "he's the one who gets me into trouble and getting my pay docked,"
"The more important thing is that you keep arresting the wrong people," Silver said.
"Tch!" the cop grunted, "Fine, just tell me how you know the kid didn't steal the pokémon," he said in a cocky manner. He must be a horrible police officer.
"I saw who did it!" Silver exclaimed. "Team Rocket, they came in and knocked Elm out which is why we didn't know who stole the pokémon.
"Don't be ridiculous. They were disbanded again by that former champion 4 years ago," the cop.
"Didn't you hear?" Silver asked, "Team Rocket sightings have been seen for months and were proven true by the police, elite four, and myself just 2 days ago and was to be released to the public today. Now release the kid!"
"Very well," the cop said while letting go of Gold, "I guess I should take my leave." He went outside and he released his Pidgeot from the pokéball and flew away.
"You okay?" Silver asked. Gold just nodded his head. "Good, now where were you?" he said.
"Oh! I need to get my pokémon," Gold said running to the table. He then grabbed the pokémon. He then turned around and Silver was still standing there.
"What did you get?" Silver asked looking at the pokéball in Gold's hand.
"Dunno. I'll have to open the pokéball and find out." Gold replied. However, just as he said that his old friend came in the door in a blue jacket and blue jeans, Ethan. He had light skin, brown hair and green eyes. Right when he walked in, you could see disappointment on his face when he noticed there were no pokémon left. "Poor Ethan," Gold thought knowing he must be upset about this. Gold began to think more and then realized he hasn't even seen the pokémon he got. Therefore, no bond had been made with the pokémon yet.
"Wait!" Gold said right when Ethan opened the door. "I want you to have this," he then stated and threw him the pokéball with the pokémon inside. Ethan caught it in his left hand because he was left handed.
"But this is yours," Ethan replied. Getting in position to throw back the pokéball. Gold put up his hand giving Ethan a signal to stop.
"Ethan, you've been dreaming of this day for years now and I haven't really put much thought into what would happen today. I can wait two more months for my pokémon. You need yours now. You deserve it more than I do, and don't worry about the pokémon disobeying out. I haven't even opened the pokéball."
"Are you sure about this?" Ethan asked.
           "Yes," Gold said.
"Thank you Gold. I deeply appreciate it," Ethan said walking slowly out the door with the pokéball in his left hand.
"You gave that pokémon away?" Silver asked having kept silent during the conversation.
"He did," said Professor Elm who they forgot was there since the police officer left. "I haven't seen anything like this in all my years of being a professor," Elm continued, "I have been working on a pokéball that could be reused to catch pokémon to help with the pokédex, but I think you should have. However it's still in testing and might not have a good chance of catching a pokémon, but it works. Oh and don't worry I have a duplicate." Elm then went to a secret hole in the wall hidden by a picture and grabbed reusable pokéball and tossed it to Gold.
          "Thank you professor," Gold said.
"Well," Silver said, "I guess I should take my leave and look for those Rocket Grunts.
"Well, well, well, Silver. Long time no see. Last time I saw you, you were here asking for forgiveness for stealing that pokémon about 4 years ago," Elm told Silver. Silver's face went to a slightly embarrassed look.
"Well it seems you haven't changed much accept the fact you try to embarrass me when someone mentions my name," Silver said, "I've had to deal with parents who have kids who want to aspire to be like me."
"I've certainly see change in you from when you stole that pokémon." Elm replied.
"I should probably go. Those Rocket Grunts could be anywhere now." Silver then walked to the door.
"Right. Being champion is very demanding for most," Elm said.
"It is," Silver replied, "Well see you later." Silver went outside and threw a pokéball and a very happy pokémon flew him to the sky. It was a giant avian pokémon with a long, thin beak that was pointed. It had fur of a golden brown and almost a little orange, and it had a somewhat long neck. It also had a head crest and long tail; both are made if flames. It was the legendary Moltres.
"Silver has certainly changed," Elm said.
             "How?" Gold asked.
"He seems happy and so do his pokémon. He is also a powerful trainer. These changes don't happen very often to people with a past like Silver," Elm said. Gold figured there was nothing left to say so he decided to just leave.
"Well, I guess I should get home too. Lunch is waiting." Gold said.
"Right. I hope to see you again. Oh, and good luck catching a pokémon," Elm told Gold as he was walking out the door. Gold began to run home, but he was stopped by people in black suits, gloves, hats, and boots. Their shirts had a Giant R on them. They were Team Rocket; they had indeed risen from the ashes once again to become rulers of the world.
They looked attentively at Gold's hand with the pokéball. Gold new what they wanted, but he had to try to get out of the situation. He tried walking out of the circle but they pushed him back.
"Handover the pokéball! Now!" exclaimed one of the Team Rocket Grunts.
"That pokéball could be an even bigger breakthrough for Team Rocket and our research," said one of the other Rocket Grunts.
"I don't care numbskulls about what you want. Now get out of my face, grunts." Gold said as the grunts pulled out stun batons. Gold knew he made a mistake. By saying that by the looks on the people's faces.
"We could do this the easy, or hard way. Choose," ordered one of the rocket grunts. Gold spit at their faces
deciding to not listen to them. He could tell the Rocket grunts were mad when they activated their stun gun. Gold got nervous but then thought of something he did a year ago to fight the kids that bully him. He remembered that he took a class for martial arts and he still remembered all he had learned, but he wasn't great at hand to hand; he was good with swords and staffs. He then noticed one of the rocket grunts had a loose grip on his baton; that's when he got an idea. Gold grabbed the baton from the grunt with a loose grip on his baton, whacked him with it knocking him out, and backflipped out of the giant circle. All the grunts then began to charge at Gold. Gold had no trouble with them. He and the Rocket grunts' batons would have their batons clash once or twice then the grunts would get struck by the stun baton and get knocked out. Gold then saw Moltres was above him. It looked like it was there for not too long, but not like it had just gotten here. Perhaps just enough time to watch the scene that happened.
There was something strange about Moltres. It was trying to land a couple meters away from him. When it landed someone got off. Obviously, it was Silver, because he caught Moltres not too long ago, a couple before his beloved Crobat died of a deadly illness. Silver climbed off his Moltres and went through a knocked out Rocket grunt's pocket and pulled out a card key. Silver then put the card key in his own pocket.
"How long were you watching?" Gold asked.l wondering if he was watching.
"Ever since Moltres heard the stun batons go off. I was about to help, but you seemed to know what you were doing by snatching that baton. I'm impressed. You could help me take down the leader of the reborn organization with a little more experience and a pokémon of course." Silver said with a grin. Gold wasn't sure what to think of this. He didn't know anything about Team Rocket accept for all the their invasions from several years ago. However, Silver was probably right. Gold knew the he himself was pretty good at martial arts, but he felt that he was too young and inexperienced to take down an organization that's been around for years. Then, while in a train of thought. The Rocket grunts woke up and found Moltres. They panicked and  pushed down Gold and Silver.
"Everyone get outta here," a grunt yelled as they pulled out a device and ran into the forest past Elm's lab.
"They're getting away!" Silver exclaimed, "Follow me!" Silver then put away Moltres and ran into the forest and Gold went to follow him. Just before he entered the forest, he looked at his house for a couple of seconds then, after a little thinking, he proceeded to run into the forest.
