I walk into my local coffee shop, ordering the two drinks I get every morning. One for me and one for my friend Zion. We've known each other since we were born, and somehow managed to end up at the same schools, college and then when he started touring with his friends, they made me their tour manager.

This week is the lads' week off, so me and Zion like to spend it together, having some quality alone time before we're surrounded by the others. The lads are amazing but as I've known A my whole life we're a lot closer.

"Y/n and Zion?" the guy behind the counter calls. I nod a polite thank you his way as I walk out the shop, pleased that both our names are spelt right for once.

It doesn't take long to get to Zion's place, I knock the door and hear a muffled 'it's open' from inside. I let myself in and go straight up to my best friend's bedroom, seeing him at the window and taking the perfect opportunity to scare him.

I place the drinks down quietly and carefully walk over to him, jumping onto his back as his face scrunches up.

"Y/n you scared me" he laughs lightly, placing me down and turning to face me.

"That was the point" I giggle, shoving his chest softly before running over to sit on the edge of his bed.

"I got your favourite" I smile, passing him the drink I purchased on the way.

"You know me so well" he smirks as he thanks me, turning the TV on as we carry on watching some series together. We've always only ever watched series when with each other. If one starts a new episode without the other it's like a crime.

After a while I feel him staring at me, so turn around and poke his cheek, teasing him about staring.

"I can't help it!" he defends himself. What does he mean?

After watching a few too many episodes of one show, I realise it's dark outside and shoot up from Zion's bed.

"I'd better go, it's dark and I've got things to do" I sigh, much rather wishing I could stay here.

"Let me at least walk you back?" He asks, earning a nod from me as I slip my shoes on.

When we reach my house I thank him for walking me back and go to open my door when Zion calls my name.

"What's up Zi?" I smile at him from my porch.

"I don't know how to say this, erm, never mind" he shakes his head and walks back down the road, leaving me very confused.

Curious, I run after him.

"Zion!" I shout and he turns around, "You looked like you really wanted to say something"

"It doesn't matter y/n, I'll only ruin things" he forces a smile, something I've learnt means he's desperate to say something.

"You can tell me anything, you know that" I reassure him, placing my hand on his cheek.

"I like you y/n, like really really like you. And I know I shouldn't because you're my best friend and I don't want to ruin things between us. I know you don't feel the same way and I'm really going to regret this but -"

He doesn't even finish his sentence before his lips touch mine, as I stand back in shock. He turns around and walks away, leaving me with my thoughts all over the place. Screw it. I chase after him, grabbing his hand and turning him to face me. I place my hands around his neck and kiss him, letting him know that it's okay.

We pull apart, and I walk back down the street to my house, leaving him smiling to himself in the darkness.
