Okay so I decided to not drop the friends out of the story completely! Though she will not be traveling with them as per request!

It is the start of Y/N's journey in the Hoenn region, she has decided to leave her Pokémon behind in Kalos with her family to start fresh in the Hoenn region.

A boy she met during her journey through Kalos was a resident of Littleroot. Where the well know professor Birch and his family lives.
After her defeat in he Kalos region Kyle had called to see if she wanted to come with him to the Hoenn region.

Without hesitation she said yes to him. Now today is the day she will receive a Hoenn region starter Pokémon.

"Thank you for letting me stay Ms, Lynn" Y/N Thanks Kyle's mother as she grabs her backpack. "It's no problem Y/N! You be safe out there" Ms. Lynn tells her as Y/N walks out of their house.

Y/N walks out to Professor Birch's lab, knocking on the door. She hears the professor yell for her to come in.

"Hello Y/N!" Y/N was pleasantly greeted by the professor. "Hey Professor Birch!" She replies happily awaiting to get her first Hoenn Pokémon.
"Well I am sure that you just wanna get your Pokémon and head off" The professor joked. He pulls out three Pokéballs in front of her.
"Now lets get to it, I don't want to waste your time, here are Mudkip, Torchic, and Treecko!" The three starter Pokémon were released from their Pokéballs. Now standing right in front of Y/N.
Y/N had already known the Pokémon she would pick, she had thought about this for a long time. Their strengths and weaknesses, even their mega evolutions.
Professor Sycamore, the Kalos Pokémon Professor, had told her that the three Hoenn starters could mega evolve in their final evolution.
"Thank you so much Professor Birch! And after everything I've thought about. I choose Torchic" Y/N tells the professor and Torchic jumps into Y/N's arms.

"Lets do this buddy" Y/N smiles at the chick Pokémon. "Bye professor!" Y/N yells back as she runs out of the lab with her new companion. 

*Time Skip three weeks* 

"Alright Combusken!" Y/N says, as she and her companion walk out of the Mauville city gym with the Dynamo badge in hand. "You did great bud, now lets head to the Pokémon center to get some rest" Y/N says and Combusken coos in agreement. Only three weeks into her Hoenn adventure she had almost a complete team. Her team consisting of Absol, Mightyena, Beldum, Eevee, and of course Combusken. 

As they make their way to the Pokémon Center a man rushes past them and Y/N stumbles as the man bumps into her. "Hey watch where you're going!" Y/N yells at him, and shakes it off. "Com-Combusken!" her partner coos and points towards the direction the man ran off to. "Shit" Y/N mutters. "Come on Combusken lets go" Y/N says and they both run towards the man. 

That man was being kidnapped by three men in red and brown outfits and a Toxicroak. "Combusken use ember let's go!" Combusken's ember hits the men and Toxicroak dead on. Y/N sends out her Absol to help. "Absol Night Slash on Toxicroak!" Y/N calls out to her Pokémon.

She runs to help the man and gets away from the others. "Absol that's enough. Combusken smokescreen!" Combusken soon engulfed the men and Toxicroak in smoke as the they make a get away. Running into a ally way to catch their breathe. "Who are you and why are they trying to kidnap you?" Y/N asks straight to the point, she hadn't gotten to actually see the man she was saving as it was all a blur. But as soon as she looked up to see his face. She realized exactly who she was helping. "My name is Steven Stone, and those grunts are from team Magma, th-ah-they are trying to kidnap me for ransom" Steven explained as he grips his left side in pain. "How bad is it?" Y/N asks. "I-It's fine" Steven tells her. "And you are?" Steven asks her. 

"Y/N L/N" She tells him. "Thank you Y/N for saving me" Steven thanks her. "It's not a big deal Steven, but what is a big deal is that they are guarding the Pokémon Center" Y/N says, and scowls at the three men who were hanging around the entrance of the Pokémon Center. Y/N tries to think of any way they could get out of here. Their best bet was the Pokémon Center due to Steven being injured. 'Wait a second' Y/N smirks. 

Her friend Brendon was still in Mauville. He had beaten the gym the previous day, but due to the severe thunderstorm he had to stay in Mauville till the weather cleared. That means Brendon would be able to help them. "I've got an idea"

"Oh my Arceus! Is that Steven Stone!" Brendon shouts as he exits the Pokémon Center, he starts running in the opposite direction from Y/N and Steven. "Okay guys lets go" Y/N whispers and they make a run for the Pokémon Center. Making it inside, they get a room and rush to get to it. Steven's injuries were only minor among Y/N inspecting them, so Steven assured her that he could wait until after this mess was finished with. "Absol you stay with Steven, I'm going to help Brendon" Y/N tells them, and runs off to help Brendon. 

She finds Brendon still sprinting around Mauville with the men and Toxicroak close behind. 

"Combusken ember!" Y/N yells Combusken hit right in front of the men and Toxicroak. "Now smokescreen!" 

Yet again the they were engulfed in smoke for just enough time for Brendon, Y/N, and Combusken to escape to the Pokémon Center. "Brendon room 57, I'm telling Nurse Joy to be on a look out for those guys" Y/N tells him, and they split off in two different ways. 

"Excuse me?" Y/N gets Nurse Joy's attention, Nurse Joy smiles and walks over to see what she needed. "Yes, what can I help you with?" She asks her politely. 

Y/N explains the situation, and to call the police if Nurse Joy see's the three men in red and brown clothing enter the Pokémon Center. Y/N runs back to the room, and opens the door to see Steven clutching his left side in pain again. But this time he was struggling to breathe, and was sweating profusely. Brendon was trying to help him stand but Steven couldn't move at all without any pain. "Brendon go get Nurse Joy" Y/N tells Brendon and he rushes out of the room. 

"Steven, you're going to be okay" Y/N reassures him, she puts her hand up to forehead and he was burning up. "Shit, Toxicroak hit you with a poison jab didn't it?" Y/N says out loud. "Y...Yes" Steven huffed out in pain. Soon enough Nurse Joy and Brendon open the door. "Audino heal pule!" Nurse Joy commands her assistant to do. A bright light shone from Audino hitting Steven directly. Steven began to breathe regularly, and relaxes slightly. She could tell Steven was already in a better condition. "That will already put him in better condition, Audino use psychic and lay him on the gurney" Audino lifts Steven up slowly and places him on the gurney carefully.

"It's a simple case now, he's lucky if he would have waited a few more minutes it would have been much more severe" Nurse Joy told them, and they take Steven to a care room. Letting Brendon and Y/N rest for a bit as they treated Steven.

"Thanks for helping Brendon" Y/N said to Brendon as she lays back on the plush bed. "It's no problem Y/N, I'm just glad we caught the poison in time..." Brendon sighs. "Y/N you get some sleep you've had one hell of a day. I'll stay up and keep guard just in case they show up" Brendon told her and he steps out of the room.

Y/N kicks her shoes off and lays under the blankets on the bed. "I wonder what the guys in Kalos are doing" Y/N sighs and laughs at the many times her and her friends in Kalos would joke around without a care in the world. She closes her eyes, and lets the darkness sweep across her vision completely.
