"Nate." My mom called. My room door was luckily closed but that doesn't stop her voice from spoiling my Goddam ear drums for Christ's sake. My mom has always been a early bird. Wakes up every morning at five, God alone knows what she does all that time till seven when she eventually wakes me up from my slumber.
"Nate Honey!"
She called from my door. At least she isn't banging it like she usually does. Some mornings she will just barge in and take over my room, but today was different. He voice was simply calm and collected. "Yes, Mom, I heard you loud and clear." I shouted. Why do i even have to get up so early, summer break is not even over, but no, i must get up and start with my chores.
"Honey!" My mom called out again. "Yes Mom." I said in response. "Do you remember that underwear big ma bought you for christmas last year?" Oh my God, she never stops talking about it, its really sickening. Well, now that you know, i do have a pair of underwear that by mom's mom bought for me. She's sixty- two, and i have a lot of respect for her, although she buys me underwear for christmas. I mean, who does that for a sixteen year old. Nowadays, a kid my age wants a bicycle, or a car. "Yes Mom, how can i forget?" I sarcasticaly replied. "Do you still have it?" She asked. What's her deal? Is she like obsessed with it or what? I wish she can just forget about it. It's really starting to piss me off.
"Duh Mom, Its in my underwear drawer, if you want it, i can tell you now already, you ain't having it. There is a reason why it was a gift." My mom's house wasnt big, but it has a kitchen, living room and dining room, three bedrooms, a toilet with just a hand basin and the bathroom is separate, but it also has a toilet pot and a hand basin in it. Obviously a basement, but i hardly go down there. Why you ask, well, i've seen a lot of movies where real scary shit happens in basements, i dont know, maybe i'm a little paranoid but that still doesnt change my view of basements.
"I dont want your underwear." She laughed. "I was just reminding you that you still have it, because, the ones you had on yesterday had a hole in it." She cant seriously force me to wear it now, just because there was a hole in my previously worn one. "It's just a hole mom. Nothing major." I protested, and judging by the look on her face, i won this argument, because afterwards she sighed and smiled at me. I smiled back anyways. "Can you leave my room now so that i can go shower and get done with my chores." My chores are simple. Clean my room, and get rid of the leaves at the front porch. That's it, no biggy.
"Mom, later on i'm going to the mall." I screamed from from my room just after she left my doorway.
"Are you going alone?"
"Yes, mom, alone. Do you have anyone in mind?" I asked her. "Yeah, what about that boy across the street, he seems nice to me."
"And your point exactly?" I asked. I assume that she saw me speaking to him the other day, now she thinks I'm friends with him. "You can take him with. I mean, he is your friend isn't he?" These are the typical things moms do. Try and befriend their kids with with total strangers. "I hardly know the guy. And besides that was only a 'Hi' and 'bye' moment. And I don't think he is interested in friendship." I said. "He probably already has his own friends."
"Yeah, I guess." She replied.***
After a came back from the mall. My mom was obviously waiting for me. Why I say so? Well she opened the front door before I got to it. "Nate, I've been waiting for you. I have good news to tell you."Oh my goldilocks. What is it now again?
"We're moving out of this house." She said. Her smile was... a smile. But not her usual smile. She was more happier, well I have to admit, she did kinda looked retarded a bit. "What? Where are we moving to?" I managed to ask that. But obviously I had more questions.
"Do you remember that guy I married two weeks ago?" She asked. Clearly I don't suffer from Alzheimer's disease for me not to remember something that happened two weeks ago. "Yeah, I do. Like it was yesterday." I said. "Well... He asked me to move in with him tomorrow. So you'll go to school there. Make new friends. He even have a son and he's round about the same age as you. "Wow, he has a son? Why didn't I know that?" I asked her.
"You didn't know? I thought I'm only repeating something you know.""How old is he though?" I asked.
"I just said now. He is round about the same age as you." "Oh yeah, of course. Silly me.""Okay get on with the packing. We don't have much time. We have to drive over there tomorrow."
"How far is it?"
"Well, its a three hour drive. So make sure you pack in some snacks too. There are no stops."
I ran up to my room and didn't waste anytime with packing.
This is gonna be exciting. Gosh I can't wait....
